I was doing some wire rerouting and I noticed after a long search that I dont have a voltage regulator.
Im not sure if you can tell by the pic, but do I have a "powermaster" style alternator with an internal regulator.
Sorry for my ignorance, Im an electrical/ignition novice.

I met a guy at the last car show with a gorgeous 69 Dart 340/410 that had a Chome Powermaster unit, the regulator as it appeared was mounted externally on the Alternator. He also had a Mopar Blue 69 down constant voltage Regulator on the firewall and both were wired in! I told him this is not right! What gives?

It is a Little hard to see in this pic, but a small external can mounted on top of the alternator.

So TWO voltage regulators??? I know what a voltage regulator does. I guess it would be OK if it was wired properly, but what would be the point?

Yep, The guy was a little tight lipped and did not say he was having an issue per say but brought it up in our conversations! So I assume he is! I offered some assistance if he wanted it and have cadded factory 69 dart drawings in color. He is only about 15 miles from me. His car was quite sweet!

you have the powermaster with the internal voltage regulator. Your car is charging correct?

Yes, it is. Not having any issues. I was just familiarizing myself with the wiring routing and when I realized I didnt have a box type VR mounted somewhere, I got a little stumped.
I asked more for clarification, so Thanks!
Im sure there are pros and cons to running either setup. Ill have to do some research on that. Possibly make a change later to an external. But for now, if its good, then its good.
Thanks again.

I have had great experiences with power master alternators. I have one that's going strong after 15 years 15! Never had a rebuilt alternator last that long. Never had one with the internal VR but i bet you wont have to worry about anything for a long long time. Any time I have an alternator ( rebuilt ones non powermaster) go out, i replace with power master. My Dad bought out a auto parts store inventory years ago and has ta bunch of alternators. He keeps trying to give me some I tell him no thanks.
