Hello everyone,
We’re looking to build a ‘66 barracuda for stock eliminator racing. 273 with a four speed. I’ve heard there is a guy in the northern Va/Md/DC area that is THE BEST for small block mopar stockers. Any idea who it is and/or others you all may recommend? Any and all locations are fine as long as they’re the best of the best. Thank you.

Unfortunetly , a lot of these people have retired of have passed . (Dan Davorak comes to mind and Lou Vignola too) . I suggest that you go to a Division II race and ask . I do remember a man who had a national record holder 8times with a 1965 , 273 , 2bbl. in a Coronet 9 pass wagon . His name escapes me . Good luck ! BTW, check the rules but I'm thinkin' you can use ANY 4 speed now in Stock . Saw a couple of them with Liberty clutchless .

@memike, what's the name of that guy that has the white 273 powered Valiant drag car?

Yes, sad to hear Mr. Davorak just recently passed. He was just down the road from me. I will start contacting some of the Div 2 drivers and see who they use. I appreciate your reply.

Bub Whittaker at Burtonsville speed and machine in Md is likely who you had heard about in that area

Since you’re in Florida, it might be worth a call to Advanced Cylinder heads in Winter Park, talk to Jim Fitzpatrick.

#GTX John

Talk to GTX John, they have about a dozen legal stock/super stock cars.....I believe he used Brad Van Lant......Steve Wann is good but is way out in Kalifornia...

There is a Mike Blackstone in northern Michigan that builds the engines for 3 of the local nhra stockers . He is currently updating a 273 for Paul Wongs 65 Valiant..

PM inbound.

The two I know of have been mentioned already. Brad Van Lant from Mo. or Matt Steen in Marshall, MN. I have personally dealt with Matt and been to his shop. Very professional and clean shop. Mopar guy at heart. Good luck with your search!
