Truck's Gotta Bite !

That’s not the same idea?
maybe sort of... but a traction bar used as a traction bar will actually use the axle twist to plant the wheels in the ground. The way i have it set up, it will not use much axle twist, there for making it (or the front leaf section) more of a arm instead of a leaf. In the beginning I was going to start with clamping the leafs in the front, but thought the traction bar would be more rigid.

OK, roger that. Thanks. I also think the axle will twist a bit but at a minimum. The more twist force it exerts the more like a arm it becomes. With the snubber, there will be a minor compression for a minor twist.

I have a concern with where you mounted the rear of the bar. I have a rear it may bend on you. If the rear of the bar was welded to a square plate using all 4 of the axle tube bolts to hold it for better clamping and rigidness as taking both the force of rear and forward on the axle centerline. The old style plates were done this way.

Beat of luck with the project!

Awesome video! So cool that it actually works! My only worry is that will it be to much stress on the u bolts and potential shear them off?

Thanks! I hope that don't happen. Those U-bolts are much larger than the ones that originally came with the traction bars, so hopefully they'll be good. This may lead to us making a plate that bolts to all 4 U-bolts and then goes up the front of the leaf.

Thats kinda what I was envisioning in my head a plate that goes around the hole bottom of the axle tube and is bolted on both ends

MidEngine!!!!!
U can do it!!!!

Reminiscent of the old South Side Traction Bars. A bar that replaced the shock plate and clamped onto the front part of the spring. Right behind the spring eye. A very ridged setup with no "give" on the front part of the spring.

I used to run MAS bars, same as you described. I loved them on my old Dart. I'm thinking I may build a set like that for this truck

I wanna say I've seen one of those set ups, either for sale or in a build thread on here, not too long ago

testing the cobbled device from Post 76

We are continuing to have success with this set up.... for now. However, it is being challenged. I did buy a better design/mount of traction device at a swap meet. Drag radials have been on for some time.
