Hi Guys,

just improved my combo so that it finally ran a 10.79 @ 124 mph. I noticed that the rpm at the finish line is pretty high, checked some online calculators and according to these converter slip is 10-11% (4.10 gears, 28" tire, 6800 rpm finish line rpm / 124 mph). Calculated rpms are approximately 6150.

I use a 8" Converter that stalls around 4800 rpm, is this slip percentage considered good, bad or mediocre? Originally i did not plan to rev this high (cast crank / hyper Piston SB Stroker).

Thanks for your input!

Michael

Yea, that is a little excessive....but I'm right there with ya. My converter slip is about 10%. I keep saying that in the off season I'm going to send it in to get reworked, I just have not gotten around to it yet.

I spin my cast 4” Scat crank to 6500 all the time. The rotating assembly was balanced to 1/2 a gram. Overkill, probably, but that is what the very talented old guy that did it wants it at. Forged piston for me though. I have been working on slippage myself. I have about 6% at the stripe, but am setting the car up to log it through a full run. Just need to get the sensor wheel on the pinion yoke.

Get the convertor tighten up to around 5% or so and you should pick up some mph and lower the RPM at the finish line.
