2 years ago when I was pondering getting a Pontoon their showroom, back lots, and front lots had them everywhere including other boats. Today I went got an Impeller for one my Mercury's and they are emptied out of almost all boats. Even a basic Pontoon purchased new is an investment....

Now I will be the first to throw mud at the Gubm't for the money they have thrown around. But the sums for most households won't ad up to the cost of a new boat. So what say you, FABO? Where did all this money suddenly appear from..... I have not a clue....

I don't know. I've gone to a commercial auction and a couple farm auctions recently and nearly everything went for stupid money. I don't know where the money tree is but it's producing well.

Maybe its a supply problem.

My money is on a supply issue. Similarly, if not sitting on a dealership lot, new ag tractors take about 8-10 months for delivery in California. The supply chain for a lot of goods has turned to **** in the last year and a half.

Maybe the money is beyond stimulus, it’s been a year of people not paying rent etc. I’m waiting for those bills to come due because a lot of people don’t think that far ahead in my opinion. Beyond where’d the money come from. There’s a material shortage happening across a lot of manufacturing. Where I work they can’t get raw materials to build parts to make our product. So maybe the turnover on the boats has always been there but now they’re unable to replace them. The auto manufacturers are cutting or shutting down production due to processor shortages. The value of my Jeep Cherokee (2015) has increased in the past 3-4 months by about $5000. I say hold onto what you got cuz I believe more will be coming.

I heard a news report on the radio a couple of weeks ago that there was a run on pontoon boats during the pandemic... Since people had to isolate, they went boating and bought pontoon boats in the last year...

I too have been to farm and police auctions and have seen things bring stupid money for the last 3 months that they nearly gave away before this.

I think it is a shortage of materials from outside the US. GM is shipping new vehicles to the dealer without all the computers installed and not being completely built. The suppliers can build the parts because of a shortage of needed materials. I know a Chevrolet Tech that bought a new 2019 Silverado 2500HD 4X4 for $68,000 and with 14000 miles on it, and covered in mud because he goes kayaking most weekends. He sold it back to the dealer he works at for $72,000. Now it is on the used car lot for $82,000.

It's not just shortage. Their sales are all way up year on year. Shortage just means that all these boat shops are going TU next year since they can't get inventory and it will be bass pro and other big stores that hoard everything that does get delivered... That's what happens when MA and PA can't get little jimmy to do minimum work for less than 4x minimum wage.

Rich folks stopped having to commute in big cities and are working remote. They sold their suburban nightmare residence for big money and bought in rural America for pennies on the dollar. Now they're pissing all over locals and trying to live out every hip hop and bro-country dream they have while signing pink slips for the blue collar guys who mined their gold for them.

Stimmie checks all got snorted or smoked, no one is buying a new pontoon off those inflation seeds...

It is in the case of pontoon boats. My son had to order his 30' pontoon last fall and he just took possession of it 2 weeks ago.
Where's the money come from. FWIW he's a plumber and his wife is a certified nurse

There are plenty of people that have had it rough due to Covid. And then there are those that have had windfalls from the gov'ment stimulus $$$$,free food, free rent, NO foreclosures, heck even criminals have had a 1 /2 yr long court holiday!!!!! Houston is behind 100,000 court dockets in one county alone.
Biggest change I see is the guy that now just work from home on his puter. He won't even need an electric car!!!

They're using them to build a bridge across the deep part of the Rio Grande

(IMHO) My vote is on "cheap money". Crazy low borrowing rates combined with every retailer willing to accept payments for anything. We've got a generation coming up that has never seen financial hard times, and of course there's the "instant gratification" crowd. As long as the cash flow covers the bills, you too can live like a millionaire........Although, now a days, I guess it's living like a multi-millionaire.

I’m trying to buy a 14k goose neck dump trailer with 17.5 super singles. Diamond C dealer is 9 months to a year out. Unfrickenbelievable. It’s like that with everything now.

All boat dealers have been cleaned out(used and new) for about 2 years now due to covid.
When I was trying to buy a "fish n ski" I spoke to a few dealerships they were selling 2-3 new boats a day. Literally flying out the door.

Well, the old saying is (BOAT)-bust out another thousand.... Maybe it's a little of everything but friends on mine big lakes throughout the country are telling me they are filled up with boats. Boats can get pretty expensive to own and maintain. Time will tell....

The definition of boat: A hole in the water that you throw money into....

the same place that cleared out rv lots, bike shops, and pretty much anything out door related..

my feeling (last year at least) is that people didn't go on vacation like usual and spent that money on out door toys and or home improvement products..

The RV industry is on fire now too.
A friend signed a contract for an RV at the start of covid. The RV dealer gave him a fair price assuming that he would be stuck with inventory with the looming collapse in the economy. When it came time to deliver, the dealer did everything except stand on his head to "LET" my friend out of the contract with no penalties. Jerked him along for almost a month before my friend said there was no way he was stepping down. The douche dealer was trying to sell it to someone else for a lot more dough.
