Had to say goodbye to our old girl Harmony yesterday. She would have turned 16 in August. She had been sick for about 3 1/2 months with vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and eventually quit eating and had a feeding tube placed

. We saw 4 different vets, had multiple blood tests, x rays, ultrasounds, even exploratory abdominal surgery due to a finding on one of the ultrasounds. The finding turned out to be a lesion on her intestines that was sent to pathology and came back as an accumulation of fatty cells/tissue and not malignant. As a last resort, we took her to our state university Veterinary college where they are well known for teaching and producing some of the best veterinarians in the country. In the 5 days that she was there, all previous tests were repeated numerous times as well as endoscopy performed with intestinal, stomach, and colon tissue taken for biopsy. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she eventually went into septic shock and passed away at 2:30 am Monday morning without a definitive diagnosis ever being determined, since the biopsies were still pending. We're really sad and really FRUSTRATED today! I know that it may not have made a difference in the final outcome, but I really wish a diagnosis could have been made, especially early on.

Sorry to hear this, it’s tough and glad your kitty is not suffering anymore. Had to put my cat down last week, she was almost 20 years old! The vet said she was well taken care of which made me feel better, but she was weak and had almost no muscle mass and was having a hard time walking...cat has been through a lot with me and I miss her.

Godspeed, Harmony. You had a good life and hyoomans that loved you.

Sorry for your loss as well! Your kitty really had a remarkable run at nearly 20yo.

Sorry to hear the news, at least she had a life of love and affection. All things must come to pass, take some consolation that You did Your best and went past the extra mile to save her.

My sympathies. I sure miss mine. I've had three of the little folks

Sad news for sure. They are so much a part of the family, it hurts to see them suffer. We've got a 16 YO Cockapoo that isn't long for this world. I feel your pain. My condolences. Cherish the memories of her. She is pain and suffering free now.

Sorry for your loss, always tough to say good bye to a family member. Sounds like you did everything possible to give her a good life.

So sorry for your loss. I can tell you really loved her. I really believe you will see her again.

It’s so tough being a pet owner, they never out live us, my German shorthair Daisy is going to be 15 on the 12th ,she’s still doing great, but I know she doesn’t have many years left and I dread the day

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's sad that they couldn't figure out how to help her in time, but it is awesome that you were willing to do whatever it took to take care of her. I have a little dog that will be 16 on Friday. She is deaf, and her eyesight is deteriorating due to cataracts...but otherwise healthy as can be. Our vet says no veterinary eye doctor will touch her to do the cataract surgery due to her age. It's very frustrating that they won't help a healthy little animal keep her vision. :(

Aw, man.
Never easy.

It's been a particularly hard time for use lately.
We've lost three in the past 10 months.
