yes, and the little back three legged dog i was also feeding and watering died of a snake bite the same day I had my heart attack down there feeding them.

Back in 2010 I was able to rescue two dogs from Iraq. Charlie and Bandit.

They were rescued from an Iraqi Border Patrol outpost on the Euphrates River. When my unit, Special Boat Team 22, pulled in to do a meet and greet with them they were throwing a whole litter of pups into the river and watching them drown. Muslims do not view dogs the same way Americans do. There was only two left. Guns were almost drawn and the Iraqis were told to stand down forcefully. The dogs made it back to our compound and were raised with us until we left about 8 months later. They're about 11 years old right now.

It took a lot of effort to get them to the States. My mother is involved in an animal rescue organization called Saving Pets At Risk and if it wasn't for them and SPCA-International we couldn't have raised the money to get the dogs home from Iraq. Since they weren't official Military Working Dogs they could not be brought home on a military flight.

We were tied to SEAL Team 8 and those guys usually get anything they request and they were down for taking them on their flight out but it was a Dept. of Agriculture thing and they were worried about diseases and such from live animals.

Yo, @Avispa I was "B" Company, Marine Barracks Cubi point '87-'88! Did rifle PT under that A-5 Vigilante and ran that F'n flight line 3 times a week. If we beat the CO up the hill after that run we got early libo. Out of >90 on a company run, only 6 or so beat that SOB. And why did you guys run those A-6 engines all F'n night? Tried dog too, tasted like corned beef, nasty. Never found out what was in the "monkey on a stick" they sold for a nickle outside the main gate, get about 2 bucks worth of those on the way in at 0200... From a fellow rescue dog Devil Dog, Semper Fi!

Good on you to be a better person in society..... One thing for sure is you will have a dog loyal beyond words. What a great way to start the day with this type of reading...

Not to derail thread as I too have rescue dogs, and yes I sleep with mine as well. Always have. Anyway we were tasked with guarding some A6s once upon a time. Those familiar with them know they have a donkey Dick on nose. What is a young dumb Marine to do? Why climb on top and straddle it for a photo op of course. No idea where that pix got off to.

No derailment here..... Car guys love their dogs.... Always have.... Unfortunately the one I have now goes off the deep end with noise so he will never be the shop dog.... However, this one couldn't get enough of it! RIP Pudd.....

Great story, and thanks for what Ya did, not only for the pups, but for Our country also, by the way, those Heinz 57 pups make the best companions, they're like little Marines, Semper Fi till the end!

Oh Yea! "feces" river smelled awful going out, never better coming back before curfew. ever eat a balut? I did one once, but i had more "Mojo" in me than a KC-135 could hold!
My daughter was born way up the hill at the hospital, I remember having to keep an eye out for the herd of monkeys that always hung around the dumpsters.
I also remember the A-6's from the flight deck of the carrier i was on, loudest plane on the flight deck, the EA-6's always fascinated me with the gold quad canopy.

And that donkey dick was pretty damn high of the ground too!
Young dumb Marine? heck I wanted to be a Marine, wasn't good enough, so i went in the Navy and hauled ya'll around on an amphib, LPH-11 New Orleans

I was a Seabee so I was definitely good enough. I was just smarter than that!
All kidding aside, I worked with a lot of Marines and always admired their dedication and spirit.

If you need help putting that baster on a 10 foot chain in the sun just let me know!!!!!!!!!! We also could put a shock collar on him and all watch from inside a nice air conditioned house and make bets who can get him to jump the highest. I'll bring the beer.

Too funny, wish we could pull it off, and give him a 5 gallon bucket with 6 oz's of putrid water ten and a half feet away.
 
I hauled those Grunts around on the Juneau LPD-10 75-77. Did a lot of partying in Subic Bay. Throwing pesos to the cuties on **** River. Could tell more stories. It was a crazy place in the 70s.

Sad to say it won't prove anything or get anywhere.... The dog can now live the life of Royalty.... That's all I care about.

Just remember folks to harm is easy, to heal ain't. Screw that guy. He will deal with his decision making one day. But atleast you guys are speaking from the heart lol....

Yeah those crazy kids jumping in the **** river. Wow. Always like taking Jeepme rides to I think Subic city. Really laid back place to party. Stop at the Samuri Massage parlor. I remember one bar at the end of the street in Olongapo that had quite the show on the second floor.
