2021 - 2022 Ford Bronco

Sounds like a great package. too bad they force you to "upgrade" the engine and trans.

Many people are backing out because they cant get that with the 6 speed manual, and the 2.3 ecoboost. I'd pay the extra $4800 for the sasquatch setup if I could have it with a 4 banger and a stick. Or even a V6 but with a stick.

I love it here. Cars dont rust out terribly here, and my livelihood is here. House is payed in full. I ain't moving.
My 94. Not 1 spot of body rot on it. Everything is OEM steel including the battery box. Dry climate. I see these things in the junkyard here because they are worn out pushing 400K not because of rot out. Bodies still solid and rust free.

I sold the floorpans out of the cab to a guy up north for a dakota with fred flintstone floors. Truck was shot, but I needed the OD trans for my kids project car. $400 for the truck, and made a trailer out of the *** end. Sold a bunch of dakota parts too. I think I'm into the trans and trailer for $0

Well I drove a bronco at my dealer. Was wanting a 2 door, almost no room behind the rear seat. Only seats 4 for its size. 2 door looks cool, but no room behind rear seat. Wont do a 4 door bronco. Proportions are all off. In all I was not really happy driving it. Could not even kid myself into it. Gage panel is an analog speedometer, and LED segment fuel and temp gages. Want a tach you have to thumb through buttons to put this bar graph looking thing on the screen in front of you. It reminded me of those 1980s Nissan 300ZX cars. Just goofy as ****. Not interested in thumbing through the screen modes to read any instruments. Highway mileage is 17 with ecoboost and manual shift. That's pretty dismal actually.

I decided to order a 2022 Ford Maverick. Got a deal through a ford dealer in iowa $3k off MSRP. Vehicle is a special order on order since december 28th. Good deal on this since dealers are marking em up. I have a full size pickup with a V8 and 8' bed to haul big stuff.

This thing is about the size of the original small extended cab ranger. I am looking at it like a car with an extra large trunk. It uses the drivetrain out of the bronco sport/ford escape. Seats 5, bed is 4'-6" long and extends to 6 foot with open tailgate. It has a no **** analog tach, speedometer, fuel and temp gages. The Lariat package which I did not want, has those LED segment fuel and water temp gages.

What I ordered was an XLT, EcoBoost 2.0, AWD, 4,000 lb trailer tow group, full size spare, in cab 110V/400W power inverter. Its size is perfect for me as a commuter. Plus 30mpg highway makes it a winner in my book.

This things got some hustle too. The ecoboost runs mid 14s in the quarter mile and makes about 250hp. The hybrid which is standard mill and starts at $20,000 gets about 42MPGe. All of the drivetrain options including hybrid have a payload rating of 1,500 lbs, and a tow rating of 2,000 lbs.

To get the 4,000 lb tow pack you need the ecoboost and AWD options. That 4K group comes with a different ratio on the differentials, heavier duty transaxle, heavy duty radiator, auxiliary trans cooler, rear hitch, wired for 4 and 7 way connectors, heavier duty rear springs, and an electric trailer brake controller on the dash.

Apparently people went nuts for these things. In 4 months since they opened the order bank, ford was swamped with 100,000 special orders. If you see one on the lot, it was either a special order, or the customer refused it when it got there.

Heres pix. This is the color on order. Cactus grey. Only interior color is dark navy blue. XLT upholstery only comes in light and dark gray cloth seats. I will be getting fitted covers as I get pretty dirty at my job. Dealer says 4-6 months. I been saving cash up for a replacement vehicle, so no biggie, I will save some more until it shows up. Total without Texas sales tax and the 3k off MSRP came out to $25,170 for this. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

I will have to do a fly up and 720 mile road trip back. I work for an airline, so flying up isnt a big deal. They even offered to pick me up at the airport. I already bought some small goodies to dress it up a bit when it gets here.

I've seen a handfull in the wild the past month or so.

I figured they might catch on, despite the poo-pooing they got on FABO a few months ago.

If they offered a manual trans with that turbo, I might be interested.

Thats nice I like the looks of those. I like the broncos as well. Haven't drove either but just from pics I like them lol. Congrats on your purchase I hope you enjoy it. Post some pictures of it when you pick it up.

How's the headroom?

My 2015 Renegade is exceptionally good.

The new ranger I sat in was just so-so. About like my 2000 Dakota. Serviceable but a tad closer than I'd like.

Thanks Dartfreak75. Last new vehicle I bought for me as a DD was that chevy HHR 14 years ago. It's only got 140K on it, but it's time for a replacement. Keeping the HHR as a spare vehicle. Only costing me $225 a year in insurance and registration. Its full of hail damage. Not worth spit.

Im in the market too. Im fixing up my old 01 ram for a winter beater but I need a reliable everyday driver. My 04 mountaineer is falling apart and its just one thing after another now. Iv fixed something on it seems like every week for the last 6 months. I actually have to go work on it now I got a bad wheel hub I have to fix. Last week it was brake calipers the week before that it was the transmission cable. Which is messed up again I have to fix that again today. I've been looking alot and doing alot of research. New and used trucks are just so damn expensive these days. I hate to go in debt for one but im gonna have to sooner or later.

Hey Kevin, check out Maverick XL with hybrid setup. Its only $20,000 new. And pulls up to 2,000 lbs. Payload is 1500 lbs. That's 18 sheets of 3/4" plywood. Ford is offering 0% financing 36 months, and 0.9% for 48 months. The tow hitch if ordered with it is only $100 to have it built with it. Lots of guys ordering the XL and dolling them up pretty nice. Might be worth getting it new in color you want, and customizing it how you want it. Gets up to 42mpg city, and 33 highway. Or opt for ecoboost and AWD setup puts it about $23k.

I got a deal in iowa but the deal is ecoboost only, no hybrid, you got to order it by jan 31st 2022, and you have to road trip to get it. They won't deliver. Its $3k off MSRP though. That puts an ecoboost AWD at about $20K after Granger Ford discount. Not a bad deal for a brand new vehicle. Deal is only good till January 31st this year. PM me if your interested and want more details.

Go to ford.com and do an online build and price. I have virtual built this damn thing a million ways. Theres some stuff you really dont need but its offered. Roughly a 4-6 month wait, could be as far as 9 months. Gives you time to save more cash. Got a trade, drive it up to iowa. Road trip woot woot.

Well I skipped on the bronco. 2.3 ecoboost manual was kind of a pig, and I honestly did not like the way I fit in that thing. No cargo area behind the rear seat, and only seats 4. The maverick all models have an available wifi hot spot, and connections for up to 10 devices. I can even remote start it with my cell phone up to 300 feet away using fordpass software. This will come in handy in the winter.

...or until 5G gets outdated.

My wife has one on order should be in next month.

Yea she ordered it the middle of last year, an XL hybrid.
Congrats join www.mavericktruckclub.com its formatted somewhat like fabo. Lots of ideas for accessories on there.

Theres a guy on maverick mafia on fakebook that put factory on steering wheel cruise in an XL. He used a 2020 escape steering wheel, and hooked up his laptop to turn on 4 internal switches in the PCM and even the icon on the center screen between the gages lights up. Works like factory. That's all there was to it
