I'm just about ready to install a 340 in my 1965 b body.
Car has power steering, no AC, it has manual disc brakes up front drums out back.
The motor has a little hotter than stock cam and a high rise dual plane edlebrock intake, but thats about all the mods that have been done to it. I need recommendations for carb and ignition/distributer.
Also, looking for headers for this application. Will I have to have them custom fabricated?
Thank You in advance.

PS
I dont need to be told that I should be putting a 440 in the car. I'm working with what I have.
That will come later when my budget can handle it.
At that point I'll be selling the original 273 and trans and the 340 and trans I'm presently installing and a spare 340 block, crank, rods and pistons.
(If someone wanted to swap all my small block stuff for a ready to install 440 or 383, send me a message, lets talk.)

Got a complete running 400 in a 71 demon with GTS manifolds...would trade for 340 but too far away from SC ..

There are lots of off the shelf headers for your application.
There is no need to buy custom.
Maybe go to Summit and type in the search box for small block headers in a '65 B-Body and you will get a lot of options to choose from.
It's a lot harder with A-Bodies, because there are only a couple of brands that fit well without a lot of fooling around.
Perhaps you could buy TTI's or Doug's and use them now and when you are ready to sell the combination, A-Body guys would buy the whole package from you because it'll slip right in with no problems.

if you sre selling or trading this 340 jst buy any headers let the buyer worry about headers if it's for an A body TTI ARE bloody expensive if you're not keeping them
