I am changing my pinion yoke and seal because of a leak I noticed after I got back from Carlisle. I ordered a 10 spline yoke, a seal, and a u-joint from Dr Diff. I have a 741 case. I am wondering if I will be able to loosen the nut. Can I get the yoke out without a puller? Should I drain the diff before I change the yoke and seal? Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks FABO.

Draining isn't necessary. Not a bad idea to suck out the old fluid and give it a change if it hasn't been apart in a long time.I just use a turkey baster and a piece of hose to get to the bottom.Loosening the nut may be a problem if you don't have air tools. You may have to use a puller but most of the time a few taps with a hammer will do.A 741 case pinion nut is torqued to 240 Foot lbs. Good luck.

Impact gun / big *** torque wrench..

Might think about upgrading to 1350 U joints. Cass stocks them and are only a few bucks more than the 7260’s. Depending g on how much HP your motor is pushing out. I lost a drive line in my truck a few months back and that really sucks. The next week picked up a drive line hoop for my duster....

The nut is not easy to get off.
Had a friend bring his 3/4 drive Snap on impact over to get it off.
Lube the seal up before you install it.
It is tough to get 240 lb/ft of toque on the nut while trying to hold the pinion in place. We used a pipe wrench with a 3 foot cheater on the handle up against the lift.

Breaker bar and a 6 foot section of pipe.
I don't monkey around if it's in the car or on the bench. use a shorter pipe on the bench. lol

Yep, I forgot to mention the large pipe wrench.

I got the nut off using my 1/2" harbor freight impact, removed the yoke with a hammer, and tapped the seal out with a screwdriver.
I put it the new 1350 yoke and seal in. I used some red locktite and my impact wrench to tighten the nut. I needed some heat to remove the u-joint from the drive shaft. I couldn't budge it with a hammer or a puller until I heated it up. The Dart goes to the garage next Monday for some new pipes from the headers to the mufflers. I'll have them tighten the nut to 240. Thanks for the help FABO.
