apologize in advance to most of you on here. but some of you will not get an apology. but you will not be left out. i also fully expect this thread to get deleted as well and to get banned, either short term or permanently. either way, it does not matter. i posted a thread this morning asking if anyone knew if the northern border was still going to open on 7/21/21, as was last stated. i would like to go on vacation to canada and visit kim, steve and a few others. i did not see the thread after i posted it as i had to take wife to doctor. when i returned, i looked for it and it was gone. i pm'd toolmanmike and he was kind enough to search and found that it was deleted. i asked a simple question, and got way laid ( in my best jackie gleason vernacular from smokey and the bandit) by a few scum bag sumbritches, who want to enhance there own agenda. you know who you are. posters #2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. i asked a simple, i thought, non political question. so here is my apology to most of you "i am sorry" but to those that derailed my post and got it deleted, GFYSS. rick woolsey. also known as rbkt65
 
Huh? Well, I guess you could always look that info up as it seems to be quite fluid. Maybe July 21? Probably any call to the border stations for up to date info. I got deleted too on a definition of an assault weapon. It was just a question pretaining to verbage of a bill passing. Heck, my Trump Avatar got banned......Oh well, the board op wants neutrality when it comes to politics outside of that toxic optional viewing news and politics forum, read a few fights in there and you'll know why.
 
I've no idea when the border will be opening up Rick, but would enjoy meeting you and swapping lies.
As an fyi, in this beautiful country there is no NEED for handguns, so if you are so inclined, come up but make sure to leave yours at home(if you have one)

Sorry it had to go. 6 out of 8 responses were either about our administration, a slam about Canada, or Covid discussions followed by the F bomb.
 
Just be glad you didn't get caught up in it. I saw when you posted it and thought that it'll be lucky to not get out of hand even though you had no political motives with it.
 
This shows how much I watch the news. I didn't even realize the border with our Northern neighbors was closed down. Hopefully it'll open back up soon. Who's responsible for closing it in the first place - US or CAN?
 
I'll post it here again as I don't think it was political.
The leanings I'm hearing in Montreal and in the news is that there's pressure from the south but Trudeau is hesitant.
I don't suspect it'll be a free for all anytime soon. I do think fully vaccinated people will be able to cross without having to quarantine, and with a negative covid test within the next few weeks. Though im not sure they will make that call by July 21 as many hope.
Day trips from Canada to the US may be out of the picture for a bit longer because of the negative covid test needing to be from the US side when coming into Canada.

It's a mess and I'll be glad when it eases up a bit.

It's just one of those subjects that will go towards Covid and/or Government direction. It's pretty much impossible to talk about the border opening up and not have the conversation go that way.

When the cases were high on both sides it was a mutual agreement. It's been over a year now that it's been closed for non-essential travel.

And that's unfortunate. All it would take is a simple answer and a thank you for the question to be answered.
 
The not-so-funny thing is this;
People who got vaccinated, as I understand it, with a weakened or dead pile of covid DNA, are now carriers of weakened or dead pieces of covid DNA. But they get a free pass.
While I, with no covid in me, get stuck in a, do-not-pass-go situation. Not that I care, cuz I have no desire to leave Southern Manitoba. And I could care less if someone with covid in them comes here.
But it will be nice for a lotta people, if the border gets opened up, if for no other reason than that autoparts can move freely again.
 
mrna vaccines don't work like traditional vaccines so there's no "dead pile of covid dna" involved.

But i am 99% certain this is straying from the question asked.
 
Just to bring this to the original question again. Trudeau announced last night that it looks like mid-august for fully vaxxed Americans and potentially September for the rest of the world to be allowed to cross into Canada.
This is obviously dependent on how things progress with variants and whatnot.
So looks like summer trips are kinda outta the picture which is unfortunate. Maybe late summer rides.
 
thanks mtldart. saw that on the news a little bit ago. we have both shots. timing may be a little off though depending on the weather at that time of year.
