My employer has a job opening there that is right up my alley, fits my description to the letter.
I’m from Clearwater Florida primarily, but live in the dump they call Hampton Roads Va now.
Never really considered being that far from the ocean for some reason, though I never go to “the beach”, nor own a boat.
How long is winter?
Can a working stiff afford a place with enough room for an extra garage

In that area? Not from what I remember. We moved from Parker CO, to small town TX 4 years ago. You can find a place, but it's getting more and more expeinsive all the time. If I were to move back I'd look in Elizabeth CO, Franktown, some parts of Aurora (north east) and some other places outside the "loop". Depending out how far you want to drive, there's some good places. Big plus is the car scene (Colorado Mopar and RPM car clubs) and Bandimere speedway are awesome. They have a tri state swap meet once a year too.

So, not sure what your version of "working stiff" means but if you can stand neighbors close up and HOA's, you'll be ok but probably have troiuble with the 'extra garage' within the city limits.

I did LOVE the state. Weather is AWESOME..... Always something to do, etc. You'll never be bored as a car guy and even less if you hunt.

It had better be a tremendous raise that would get me to live in "the state of woke"

That's the one downside but it's not too hard to get away from it at the local level. Just stay away from Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs and one other place I can't remember.

State is a mess though so there's that.

Littleton, as any city, has its good and bad. I personally like Littleton. As far as weather...Colorado has about 57 seasons. The worst is construction season which now seems to last all year long. Used to be just in the warm months. Kidding aside, Littleton is a suburb of Denver and part of the Platte River valley. What that means is that a lot of the big storms go around this area. It might be because the Denver metro area might be kinda generating it's own weather patterns. The biggest issue I would say for you coming from the East coast is the dryness. Most of Colorado is semi arid and most of the time the humidity is below 20%.

I tell people the weather is schizophrenic. Snow, rain, hail, and 60 deg weather all on one day

So, here is a HUGE plus... In the 6 years I lived there, the snow only stuck for more than a week once, and it was the only time I remember the temps being low for that long. They hit -15 for about a month the year we had a house fire.

Yep. More than once I've been working outside in fairly nice warm weather and a front comes through and with a single gust of wind the temperature drops 20*. That's not an exaggeration.

Exactly. being from MN, that's when you crap yourself because a tornado is coming. CO, nah, just another afternoon.

They do have some WIKID lighting storms... Very impressive.. and the views.. man the views....

 When the tornado sirens go off instead of heading to the basement we go outside and look for funnel clouds.

For the most part, the farther out you go the cheaper it gets. Littleton is a nice area, drive 20min south and your in the country. Lots to do here, not just on water. It will take you some time to get used to the altitude and the dry climate.

A long time ago an old Jewish Gent told me "Boy, go where the money is the rest will fall in place". Man was he right

Thanks for all the replies so far.

what would be 20 min south, I’d like to look at google maps when I get a chance

20 minutes south of little puts you in highlands ranch or castle rock depending on the time of day. Expensive and full of HOA.s Further gets you into Monument which is a nice area, more rural. Elizabeth and Franktown are on the east side of 25 also rural, just east and south of Parker. If you don't mind going north, there is Thornton etc. Go east on 70 and you get to "country" in which they still teach shop class. you're not going to find that south of Littleton without going a good ways. Of ocurse west gets you into the foothills and mo money (and drive time)

One thing I wish I'd done was simply rent a place for a while to get a feel for things. There is that option too. Whever you end up, there is a HUGE mopar scene in CO and lots of enthusiasm. Not sure if you are a metal head, but Willie B. who is a very popular radio personality out there is a MoPar nut. I used to know the guy who worked on all his cars (casually). He has a nice charger and some other non-mopar cars. He works with Linkcoln tech to "restore" a car and give it away after a few months where listeners vote on what goes in/on it.

I don't think you can go wrong. Lots of good jobs and a nice place overall.

Best bar in my opinion, Twenty Mile Tap house on South Parker Road. Live music, small menu, great food and a hell of a crowd to party with

Haven't been up that way in a long time, but living at the base of the front range of the Rockies I recommend. Beautiful, idyllic. South looks good, as does West. Get outside of the ring of freeway around Denver. It all depends on what you like. If it was me, I'd start researching small towns. Sedalia for example and it's unincorporated. Could be a bunghole for all I know, just guessing.

My sister and bro-in-law lived in Littleton for a few years. They loved it. Said they would go back when they retired (which she just did) but not with the current political climate there

Yes! I forgot about Sedalia, nice place for sure.!

Castle Rock is a good choice. A lot of higher end neiborhoods and its a relaxed place.

I really like Colorado Springs. The cost has gone up a bit but that's everywhere. Its a good place with a lot to do.
