Don't it piss ya' off when someone lists an item "For Sale" and you're the first to inquire, within seconds of the posting, only to find out weeks later it has sold? To the 2nd, 3rd, 4th..............?
Not very considerate! A heads-up PM would've been nice.
That's my ***** of the day.

Seems like someone is playing favorites, instead of the first response. Sorry man, but there's no rules against it.

I agree 100%. No law against it.
However, it doesn't cost anything to be considerate.

I've seen it a few times. International shipping usually gets me passed over if multiple interests. Oh well.......

The seller could've received a PM. Not everyone replies to a for-sale ad when a PM is ultimately what's needed to exchange info.

I agree. It's in the sale rules to mark the ad sold to close it. Many don't read or follow the sale rules. Very frustrating.

when i see something i want, ill call dibs in the for sale thread, and my very next action is a PM to the seller
just to make sure im first by both counts

also, you gotta keep in mind some people on here are volume sellers AND shippers

i have seen someone say "ill take it" to which the seller responds "ill add it to your pile"
seem that multiple times

it makes sense because it saves the buyer shipping costs, and the seller a trip to the post office

if i were a volume seller, i could be tempted to go with guy #3 if i got a box ready to go to his house anyway

(just thinking out loud, of course)

It could also be listed on multiple sites. I just had a guy get mad because he was about 25 people down the list to buy my MIL’s car, and I wouldn’t hold it for him to come see. He blew off the day and time he said he could come, and lost it to a full offer purchase from someone who actually did do what they said they were going to do! Not saying this is what’s happening here, but I routinely list some things on multiple sites, and sometimes only list them here.

That stang was beautiful/pristine and probably didnt last the end of the day. That's the type of car everyone wants.

Yeah, I lost one for sale here in a similar situation. People have a lack of integrity sometimes. It makes you wonder if they received the wrong amount in change if they would keep it.

On the other side I showed up to buy a car and some people walked in behind me. After a quick look at this car I knew it was straight and told the owner I'd take it at his price, then this other person said I'll give you more. The owner said I won't do anything like that and sold me the car. Integrity.

Not meant to be. Move on happily. :)
I'm not wasting any sleep over it.
It is what it is.
It's just a little frustrating he would respond to the initial PM but wouldn't answer any(3) of the follow up PM's.
At any rate. I'm sure another set will show up sometime. Maybe even better!

I've missed out on a few items like that on this site, I just grin & bear it because sooner or later another deal comes along.

What r u looking for? Kim

I agree with your issue but just as discerning too me are vague titles in the for sale sections.

I just deleted a sale thread with a vague title, just a Facebook link, no price, description, or location. I asked the seller to read and follow the sale rules and repost. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

Ok I gotta see pics of this car. All of your cars are better than you describe them Geoff now I am curious from not seeing this.

man, i was gonna buy that

well, at least put in an offer, ask for 1300 pictures, set up a date to come look at it, flake, lowball and get mad when he sells it to someone else

How many camera angles can you take of one item? How many-Joe sold one better last week cheaper-or they sell new for less do you care to hear? Or”I’m a deaf mute” I should get it free!!! Just put a 40000 mile C body up for sale and you will find out just exactly how many$5.00 items are on the car!! And of course the 383 auto’s are a dime a dozen. Amazing how many people just love these cars until you put something up for sale.
