Best deal on a 904?

....and I'm not 100% SURE the TF3 takes low band apply away from a stock valve body. It may not. I've never used one.
Okay this address is more of the heart of what we're talking about here...
According to the op he's having trouble with the linkage and wants to possibly eliminate the kickdown linkage? If it's the kickdown linkage he's looking to eliminate a simple transco 3 kit would do that.. and make it a manual shift.. lots of the modern floor shifters have two plates that can accommodate a Forward or a reverse shift... It sounded like the linkage was more of the problem and possibly the reverse pattern was going to be a bonus..

Maybe find someone in your area with a reverse pattern and try it. You'll never go back.
If you read back through my post my address my customer with the 72 Dart with the reverse manual. And the first thing he did was try to take off and drive. Because he forgot that quick...
I've driven quite a few reverse manuals and it doesn't really do nothing for me. Personally I have a four-speed... (Like real men...) LOL...

If it's just a matter of the valve body it's just 10 bolts that hold the valve body in..
Why people let something as simple as an automatic transmission continue to be a mystery is far beyond me.. I'll never pay somebody thousands of dollars to put $120 rebuild kit in my transmission...
I'm shocked you haven't covered this on you boob but then again something useful like teaching people how to use a $99 Harbor Freight flex wire welder would be extremely useful as well...
Don't take this wrong... but you tell me if it's just a matter of valve body or not? I'm saying there is much more to a transmission than a 125 dollar kit. As for my channel (much like this site), I'm not re-inventing the wheel. Nor am I bringing the first knowns to man. Neither are you. LOL

If he does that, he'll still need to wire the kickdown lever on the transmission all the way BACK.

I used to pull off in high gear all the time in my 65. Hot 360 with 4.30s it did it easy. Even on an incline. In fact, I rarely shifted to second or first just putt puttin around on the street.

Heck the shift kit probably cost less than a aftermarket kickdown setup..
And one hell of a lot less than sending to Summit for a brand new transmission..

Somethin sticks out in my mind about it and I think it was a Mopar. Maybe I'm imaginin it.
Bolt in sprag, and billet drum, MV, money starts to add up quickly. Isn't hard to sink 1500 into a TF

You know when you leave yourself wide open like that it's almost impossible for me not to take a shot...:D
Stop sending them so slow straight across the plate...

Especially if you're paying someone else to do it!... One of these days you might get tired of doing the same old carburetors and headers and venture out to something different...

I put a kit in a C6 when I was 17. How old was you when you did your first transmission?

aw bullshit. All you really need IF you want added protection is the bolt in sprag and a manual VB with low band apply. Those two things alone will stop it from ever happenin. But driving like you have one eye and half sense and not lettin it hook when it hits second and a stone stock transmission will live just fine. I wouldn't even think about high dollar drums and such unless I was runnin some BIG power.

ehhh.....bout the same as you. Mine was a powerglide in auto shop. ......and amazingly, I got it right the first time.

it was just for Jpar... he did a transmission about 2 years ago and as usual, tells me what I should do or what I haven't done. Same story :D

I think my first shift kit I put in my first Duster. I'm sure I was older than 17...
If that matters?... I remember taking my engine out of my AMC javelin when I was 17 and oh yeah going to the state finals for the vocational industrial clubs of America Small engine club...

I ain't done a ton of transmissions. I've done most every domestic three speed, one AOD, and like three powerglides. I'm gettin ready to tear one of these slant 6 904s down and see what's up. I may stick that in Vixen with a semi tight 4500 converter and RMVB. Time will tell. If I am successful pushing the driver's side of the transmission tunnel over about an inch or so with my port a power, I'll sling the A230 in it and it will be a column shift three speed forever. It's REAL close to fittin. I think I can do it.
