Littleton Co- what can you tell me

-
Brighton, north east(ish) of the DMA, might be a good buy. Development stalled years ago, but it might be ripe for the picking now.

Thanks again. Any and all input is surely welcomed, this is much bigger a decision than I ever intended to make at this point.
Work would be South of Littleton, so North & east sound good, I don't want to get into hour plus commuting, I did enough of that in Tampa-Clearwater area.
Pretty much the political leanings don't bother me either way, I just don't care for the extreme ends either way. We're all here and need to come up with a way to work **** out & I believe those in charge like to keep everyone's attention on the other "side".

Thanks for the info so far.
He says Longwood to the north of work might be a possibility, Castle Rock to the SE. both about 30 min commute. I can’t get over the prices though,
Might be a good move for the longer term, but I think the 1st few years are gonna be tough.

More to consider

To the east, Watkins and Bennet are nice too. Wide open spaces available

Northwest, Golden and Wheetridge are older communities.

South east,
Parker, Stonegate newer and growing fast
The Pinery, older and very wooded
Frainktown, older, rural, and mostly wooded

What price range are you looking at? South of Bennet to the east would be about a 30 min drive. I'm south of Strasburg about another 10 min. Both are wide open spaces.

I'm actually in Salida. It's in the mountains about 3.5 hours from the Denver.
Great suggestions above. I'd say the cheaper pricing will be to the east of Denver. There are some cheaper grass land that is north of denver between Fort Collins and Denver.
If you move to Castle rock you will find that your commute is up I25 and it will be just like city driving and commuting.
If you get out east and figure out a good way into the city you can make your drive much nicer than the southern drive.
Colorado is awesome! The politicians are ridiculous and out of control.
We have a major labor shortage in the state. No one wants to work. I've literally built a full custom home over the winter alone. After just getting back from Carlisle nationals I noticed that just about all the lobbies of fast food stores on the roads are closed. Drive through only on skeleton crews.
All materials in the state are imported and the cost of general items is more than other states.
That does include gasoline. Even though we are a large oil producing state. Politics again.
I don't know anyone who leans to the left. Seems all the people in this state are right leaners until you get into the typical large cities or down town districts in the medium and smaller size cities. Just about all the eastern cities are going to be conservative as they are all farm communities and as we know the left side is terrible for farmers.
Winters aren't that bad. Denver has nice weather.
And everything around Denver, is denver. All us Ruralists look at that area as the ignorant bastion of the state.

Now Salida. This is the place to live. 5 mountain ranges merging in one spot. We are in the banana belt and we get very mild winters in comparison to the surrounding mountains that are literally a few miles in any direction. When your ready let me know and I'll build you a vacation home up here on the side of a mountain!

Wide open spaces are where it's at. The grass lands aren't that bad. The prices aren't too high yet. I'm in the process of buying some acreage in rural Walsh,Co. Pretty cheap.
Some acreage as low as 1K per acre. Then plop a modular on the property and have a place to live for a cheaper price than in the cities.

The kid seems to like it out that way..........

I don’t know what my budget is anymore, 2 days ago, I would have said 325 ish, LOL now.
Trying to be within a 30-45 min commute of Platte Canyon Reservoir seems like I gotta up my investment substantially, yet job doesn’t pay that much more. I like my current job ok, but hate where I live.

Ok, Franktown not a bad commute

This will be an issue for you then. Colorado is deep deep blue, actually far more liberal than California. If you are south of Littleton, you are probably in aerospace- Ball, Martin Marietta, ULA….. prepare to be hated. Good luck!

I usually go there to the Aurora Parker area a couple times a year to visit my son my grandkids and a lot of my relatives on my dad's side have moved there.. I'm going next month as a matter of fact in Florida as well LOL.. all the times I've been to Denver area I have yet to be kind of impressed by anything in a good way...
I do come from Oregon though and this is an extremely beautiful place but don't tell anybody ..

That was 22 years ago. There has been a lot of school shootings since then. Columbine doesn't define Littleton at all.
Hey Guy, I never said a single thing about Littleton being any kind of place. Just asked if it was the town Columbine H.S. was in because it's the only time I've ever heard of it. Just trying to jog my memory is why I asked. Calm down.

 When the tornado sirens go off instead of heading to the basement we go outside and look for funnel clouds.
No joke we were in Kerrville, Texas last summer visiting my mom and a thunderstorm rolled through at dusk. It was friggin amazing, like I remembered in Philippines except this was right over us. Those were usually over the bay or a few miles away. Anyway were all watching in awe of the lightning dancing through the clouds and the thunder and then the winds came and mom hustled us inside. I trucked the kids to the back enclosed porch overlooking the golf course and the winds really started howling, trees were cracking and sheets of rain were whipping across the fairways and I was yelling "This is AWESOME!!!!" My mom was scared for good reason. a twister touched down 2 miles down the river from us and tore up an outbuilding. I love me some crazy weather as long as it doesn't hurt anything. CA is boring.

X2 from a former nearby Canon City resident of 10 years, leaving in 1988 because I was sick of paying who screamed the loudest every month. Spectacular scenery, always something to do if you have fuel in the car (fossils were my thing), generally nice people when you're out of the city, but tough to make a living then. It sadly sounds like it's still tough these days, and far too liberal to want to call it home again.

Hey @Cuda Hunter do you recognize my dad's favorite fishing spot?

That’s comedy right there. You being sensitive and “sticking up for a town” from a guy that merely asked about the history of said town while telling the guy with the history question that he’s the one being sensitive. :realcrazy:
