Help me add 100 hp to a magnum 5.9 on a super tight budget

-
How many gears does the Hyundai have? And is it an AWD? Those will make a big difference early in the run.
If it's an, 8 speed AWD, you are probably screwed.

I believe it is awd. I'm almost certain its a stick but can't swear to it. I believe it is awd.

If it’s a new G70 awd you will get roasted on the street… they run into the 12s on dirty pavement…you probably want to be running at least mid 12s to have him covered
Ouch, i was afraid of that.

I like being a copy cat sometimes…

Stock 5.9, M1 single plane, 750 cfm carb (Holley preferred) 1-3/4 headers, Comp Cams copy cat 380/360 crate engine cam that has more lift.
Add minor head work so the valve retainers clear the head. Give it a milling for a .5 increase in compression.

Change the stall on the converter to match the 4.30 gears and go clean his clock with an extra 100 shot of N02. You’ll clear 500 hp.
Yeah, except you’re talking about dropping 2-3000 dollars into it. He said he has no budget. I’d go with NO2.
If you drop a grand on everything minus the camshaft and springs you paid way to much. Start surfing the classified section and make substitute when possible. The first example would be the M1 swap for a Victor. The current headers & carb would do. I’d just run approximately 18 inches of open pipe after the header and call that good and take a dremel to the AFB and whittle down the legs and rings of the boosters. I myself can do the head work save the milling. Trust me, you can too with the right tools.
Selling the converter to roll the proceeds over into a better unit saves a lot of money. Same with gears. Sell/trade the 3.23’s for 4.10 or 4.30’s.

If he wants to look for a deal on a cam, the classifieds here sometimes have new cams for sale.

Use this and save a Dyno proven 15 hp
[FOR SALE] - SB windage tray and bolts
Sell the Edelbrock-750, Here’s the 750 Holley by a good fella here.
[FOR SALE] - Holley 4779-3 750 Mechanical Secondary
A cam that can RPM? Right here! Good price. Recalculate lift! Example; 500 / 1.5 X 1.6 = .533
[FOR SALE] - Crane Camshaft
Ask the seller (an excellent dude!) if these are good for a .5033+ lift cam. (*I Think* they are.) Double check me on this if the springs fit.
[FOR SALE] - Set of 16 Trick Flow 340 single valve springs and retainers
Magnum intake? This will do just fine in less of a RPM. It’s better than a chink-ism garbage copy.
[FOR SALE] - Magnum four barrel
3.73’s anyone?
[FOR SALE] - Mopar 8 3/4” 3.73 Suregrip center section
You’ll need new oil through pushrods and lifters with the above Hyd cam.

Dude you’re making my point for me after arguing against it. Your list here adds up to over 2k, not including a converter or shipping on anything.

Did you take into account of selling off the other parts?

Oh! Buy locally, cheaper. Trade parts. Work deals.
Dance tables at night. Do what needs to be done.

Still cheaper than new.

....speed cost,..how fast can you afford to go???
Now here’s an idea I can support.
My brother, a drag car and drag boat engine builder for decades says ‘Speed costs money, how fast do you wanna go?’ any time I ask him how I can get more out of my setup.

marketplace,..craigslist,..swapmeeets,..dumpster diving,...sale adds on Abodys,...it can happen on a budget,..but takes time and thriftyness helps....

Thanks, my first thought when I woke up this morning was to check classifieds here.

Does your car hook ? ?
Power is useless if it won't hook !

I don't know yet. this one was in boxes when I got it. I'm working through the last few items to make it a driver now. SO far it has driven up and down the driveway.

Did you take into account of selling off the other parts?

No anything half way worth a damn will go on the pickup or in the jeep or one of the other projects. I don't typically sell even mediocre speed parts.

Nitrous ain't cheap and it ain't just throw a bottle in the trunk... Speaking of the bottle do you have a $200 heater to keep it at 92°? Speaking of the bottle is it less than 5 years old so it's still certified and somebody will actually fill it for you because if it's not they won't...
Do you have the strap down kit for the bottle? And are you putting it in the trunk? Because if you're putting it in the driver's compartment you have to buy a tube for the blow off that goes out of the cab... I wouldn't buy used solenoids as if one sticks especially the nitrous One open... BOOOM!!!... Full throttle switch? Low pressure switch? Window switch? Activation switch? Timing retard?... Nitrous fuel pressure gage? To verify the fuel pressure when and use not at standstill?...
Food for thought...
If you're feeling lucky I'm sure you can get away without some of that stuff... You're very safe "with a well tuned system" using 150 shot... But even that I would creep up on doing a 50-100 and then finally 150 after you figure out your tune.. I would definitely want an AF gauge and keep close eyes on the spark plugs after each pass...

And watch the timing, one wiff of detonation and those Hypereutectic pistons will be in shards in the pan...
