Why are you so down on these heads. I’m curious. I’m assuming they are aluminum heads.

Idk why a guy would even buy them if he is bound and determined they are more or less junk. There will always be haters of the Chinese stuff. Hey buddy, look around your place and tell me u don’t have any off shore junk. Kim

I only buy quality Chinese junk. There's a difference in junk.

How fast are you looking to go with them (speedmasters)?

My sons got a set of these heads and they pass scrutiny so far but.....
They (the Chinese) can make anything with quality if required but one thing they can’t make is corrugated fiber board boxes (like the ones these heads came in) to put the stuff in or solid wooden crates or pallets to stack the boxes on. You so much as sneeze on any of it and it blows, splits and simply crumbles apart.
Haven’t yet heard of these heads doing the same so that’s good at least:lol:

I believe you hit the nail right on the head. The company using any other country to save money, still needs to hold the product to a high standards. Not just make it as cheap as possible. I would rather have things made here, but I have bought lots of junk made in US because companies still don't hold a high standard and hope the Made in USA sells the part. It all comes down to company integrity.

The test I’d like to see is a set of OOTB SM heads tested against a set of refurbished OE heads with 2.02’s, with the only porting being a basic bowl blend. Milled to match the chamber volume of the SM heads.
Tested on a basic “hot street” 408/416........ say, something in the 450hp range.

Try to have it where the reworked OE heads aren’t representative of something that would cost too much more than the OOTB SM heads cost. Call it “around” $1500. Of course that number can vary a fair amount depending on what part of the country you live........ but the SM’s will cost everyone the same.

Then, pull the SM’s off and have the basic prep and bowl work done....... see what that’s worth on that type of build.

I built a 408 using Speed master heads. With basic bowl work, Will put on a chassis Dyno ASAP and post some numbers....

How much milling would it take to turn an OE head into a closed chamber 65 cc head.
Not TOO sure this could ever be an apples to apples comparison.

I bought a set of there bare CNC heads ..bought their valves...retainers and locks....yes cheap....black friday prices.
Had my local machine shop do a competition valve job with PAC springs....put it on 360 with speed pro hyper pistons...old MP oval track cam .571 lift
In Vegas air it ran a best of 11.19 @ 188.56...Would run high 10s at sea level...

Got a second set done the same way in plastic bags still...A super stocker engine builder did the heads for me and was impressed with them including the quality of the casting...

i bought them cause there was nothing else available , when the trickflows get here i'll change the heads and give the speedmasters away
