Changing out day/night mirror glass

Has anyone ever successfully changed the day night mirror glass out?

Not just the glass. Is it available somewhere?

I did this on a number of AMX / Javelin mirrors years ago. Worked the glass out and had a local glass guy cut new ones to shape. Worked well however those mirrors had the somewhat flexible black construction. The day / night mirror glass is actually tapered so it can be tricky as the new cut pieces are not.

Not that I am aware of. I just figured I might be able to find good glass on a bad mirror frame and swap in to my good mirror frame

Always wondered about that myself. Wonder if you could soak the plastic in hot water long enough to increase its flexibility? My guess is they assembled them in a nest and had a flat pad that pressed on the entire glass surface and pushed the glass into the housing or shell
