Is there a way to test the OD and LU solenoid on a 42RH.

I swapped one into my 70 Dart and it was working fine, but then just quit. I don't want to put a new solenoid.in if there is a wiring issue.

Thanks,

A couple questions. Not sure how you have it wired or if your using a powered switch and or a vacuum switch in the circuit. Have you checked your pressure switch? I have to assume you’re using one and you’ve checked all your connections?

Good point. I have pressure switch. I'm going into to check the wiring to be sure it's not open between the connector at trans to the switch. Is there a way to check the pressure on switches? I do my have a vacuum switch, with 4.10's I wasn't sure I wanted that on the freeway. Lol.

If it just stopped working all of a sudden it sounds like you lost power supply somewhere like a wire connection or maybe your vacuum line fell off the vacuum switch. If it’s like mine the higher vacuum keeps the circuit closed via the vacuum switch and the drop in vacuum due to increased load/pedal stomp/passing opens the circuit resulting in kick down. If you have a separate toggle type power switch on the supply side I’d be checking those connections too as well as anything with physical connections. Also the pressure switch ground.

The pressure switch itself can only complete the circuit when the pressure increases enough to close the switch. If it’s an adjustable pressure switch it can be adjusted to close based on the speed you want the OD to activate. I know....I know....you already know that..lol.

Lol. I don't have a vacuum switch, so I'll double check the power on the middle pin..I so have the toggle switches for LU and OD, in case I want to turn them off. I'll check the continuity there also.
