Seen this on a nostalgia site I frequent. Can someone tell me about this Header set up ?

Yup factory setup. The rest of the exhaust was just as gnarly.

The Stage III Max Wedge engines had some badass exhaust too. You didn't see any of that on Chevy junk. Ford had some total badassary long tube cast iron headers though.

The pictures of those NASCAR Max Wedge Tri-Y headers are the ones that the owner sent me decades ago, as at that time i purchased the single left side one that he had for sale, back then.
Had the left side one for decades, before i sold it off.
It went back East somewhere, and then changed owners numerous times throughout the years, back then.

Ya, i would agree, a pair of them are pretty heavy.

At one time i used that single manifold as a door stop, believe it or not.

They're heavy, but they flow like gangbusters and last forever.....unless they get broken.

Since we have gotten onto exhaust manifolds, and pipes, the 1964 Ford Thunderbolt's had quite a design to them too.

Did the A990 Headers flow well ? I wonder if todays Technology is any better, or am I comparing Apples and Oranges ?
Who knows.
I doubt if any comparison studies were ever done, with something like that.

I can tell you this much, though.
The Superstock exhaust system that i have, i was told when i got it, that this system was removed, and Jardine Headers were installed in place of this system.
So back in the day, some 64 Superstocker gave up these parts for aftermarket Jardine Headers.

Those T-bolt 180 headers combine the cylinders in order so there is no thump thump thump like a V8 but more of a 4cyl or motorcycle tone out of each side. My B2000 has a factory 2 Y 1-4,2-3 cast iron header manifold that feeds a double pipe to a collector, pretty strange for a lo-po 1976cc torque motor. There must have been something in pairing cylinders like that even on the hemi.

He needed retard therapy.

Here's the rest of it from the bottom.

Also, the cars had to run full exhaust all the way back. What’s behind all that spaghetti is a small single pipe that runs over the rear to a cross mounted muffler behind the bumper. Reason for the cutouts, didn’t have to be connected, just there, and light
