I mean it can be interpreted many different ways.
- many countries contributed to it regardless of its location
- there are a whooooole lot of countries in Africa where slaves were taken from. So in that sense it works
- just a general museum that honors African Americans regardless of where their accomplishments were achieved, or history was made

I'm sure there are other interpretations I can think of that make sense for an institution.

What I meant was it is either international, African, or American, it can not be all three


On a side note, can you imagine the hiss fits if someone were to open an "international white folks museum" ?

You've got three black folks born in the usa.
One guys dad is from Nigeria
One girls mom is from Ethiopia
One guys mom is from Morocco.
Guess what that is.....a group of international African Americans.
That kinda sounded like I was leading up to a bad joke.
I won't respond to the rest to just to keep this from getting moved to the news and politics. Just stating basics of how I interpret it based on language.

It is an incredibly awkward title though....I'll give ya that.

Oh here's a VERY random picture.
My buddy found this in the storage unit for his new apartment along with some welding helmets.
I think it's a jig for something....but I have no idea.
Gonna put it on a shelf in my shop with a sign that reads "ten bucks to the first person that can tell me what this is"

As far as the teddy quote.
America is a great melting pot of many nationalities with each one contributing to the greatness of it. I don't see them as hyphenated but as adjectives. Each adjective just further strengthening the country's deep history and roots from all around the world.
I was/am a first generation American and my roots help strengthen the country, not divide it.

This made me think of a time about 60 yrs ago when I asked my grandfather (first generation American - dad was from Denmark, mother from Sweden), “What are we?”

Pop did not hesitate, “We are Americans. Nothing else.”

So I asked, “Well, are we Danish-Swedish-Americans?” And he responded “Danes are in Denmark, Swedes are in Sweden, Americans are here. Nothing else. If we wanted to be considered Danish or Swedish, we would live in Denmark or Sweden.”

I learned a lot from him. I agree with Teddy Roosevelt.
