thought your TTI headers were expensive?

LoL. How about titanium headers for 45 year old F1 car... these are cheap, even though all of us that have TTI have bitched about the cost...

Jeez...

At first I thought "Well hey, maybe they're custom stainless, tig's etc...." then I looked at the glue job, I mean "welds"? if they can be called that....

My nephew has a buddy who fabs headers by hand, learned on his own while sweeping the floor at a race boat shop. Puts that crap to shame...

I've seen the rear chassis of a Ferrari F40 and the bird **** welds on the back half of that car was criminal.

I think it's interesting how people say stuff like "They don't make them like they used to" as a blanket statement.

I just shake my head and think to myself... "Thank God"...

I’ve always wanted to build a set of 180 degree headers for a twin turbo setup. Problem is what it would fit in.....nothing.

Here they are in a pantera (car show), which is a pretty badass car

Bah. That's cheap. When available, the DINAN headers for the 2000-2003 BMW E39 M5 sold for $8000 new and go for around $5k used.
BMW guys are nutz.

SOME of them are nuts.:p

I've been driving and turning wrenches on my BMWs since '88... for 22 years I had an E23 745i (grey-market factory turbo car). I put a five-speed stick in it, redid the engine with forged pistons and larger bore after sonic-check, added extra injectors (and built a controller for them), had the head ported, more cam and beehive springs, turned up the boost to 15 psi and a little squirt of nitrous to spool the autobahn-sized turbo quicker. It was a lot of fun but body cancer finally got it.

Currently my (local) daily driver is a 1997 540i (six-speed manual) with the Dinan blower and stage 1 suspension. "only" 414 hp but entertaining to drive. (Stock was 282 hp). About seven years ago I bought it with 66k miles for $10k. Still only has 118k. The original owner paid $48k for the car, then spent 21k on upgrades including the Dinan blower kit (at the time, $9k plus $2k labor!). He sold it to his middle-aged son, who I bought it from. They ate most of the depreciation, not me ;)

I stay far away from M cars. They require ridiculous amounts of money for maintenance, and any unique parts for them multiply the cost by several times... like the header in your picture :realcrazy:

I had a 2000 M5 from 2009-2020. I sold it last fall to make room for my 73 Cuda. I didn't do too bad on it. New it was $73,000. I paid 13.5k with 104k miles on it. Put several grand into freshening the suspension, two sets of tires, brakes, and a Dinan rear diff. I did all the work myself, including rebuilding the VANOS system. I sold it last fall for 10k with 140,000 miles. I think I got my money out of it. 420hp six speed manual that handled like it was on rails. It's the goal I have set for my Cuda. Should get close but the chassis will never be as stiff. Mopars are expensive, but not M-car expensive.
