That was a project discontinued

i believe that project has been revived.
His brother Vic Bloomer, who might be the sharpest guy i know, supposedly got involved and “ fixed” these heads.
Vic is a guy who i mentioned his car on here before and i got the impression people thought i was lying…something i dont do.. some on here actually know him and the car
Anyhow he has a Barracuda( think its a 67) that at around 2700-2800 ish pounds has been mid 9’s with a small valve set of 308 heads on a stock stroke lower compression 340.
Sure i will see him( and Rod) at Monster Mopar.
If Vic has fooled with them, i can guarantee they would be well worth having.
Vic ported heads for Hughes years ago, dont think he was involved with the heads the way they initially were done. That was ( i believe) Brett Miller.
Everybody has opinions, mine is that if i had a gun to my head and could pick anybody on the planet to port a set of heads for me, it would be Vic, and i wouldn't think a second about it.
He has a lot on his plate and very little spare time, unfortunately.

I thought the B in BPE was Vic. That’s why I know this head only needed some small tweaks. If I were to guess only being able to see the picture I posted it came down to short-side shaping. The damn short-side is so small in these heads when you take runner cc off the floor you compound the issue. At 400 plus FPS it will skip the short-turn and crash the good air at the back of the bowl shutting it down.

B is for Bloomer. Rod Bloomer… is who was in charge of the project.
Vic is his brother, but wasn't involved. At least that was my understanding. Vic has his own life and is a very busy guy.
Frankly, had Vic initially worked on this head, well….a lot of us would probably be running them, and going fast already
 
I’ve gotten 318 on my bench without moving the pushrod. His was out of a set of ProComp, Speedmaster heads which he claims filled the bottom of the port removing the danger of hitting water. He claims Edelbrock wouldn’t do it. My heads were under the 220 cc intake port size and done by hand. 50 cc is a lot of material to take out of a port any other way than by cnc porting.my ports were so touchy every single port was on my flowbench multiple times to get them calmed down. A buddy of mine is building a customer engine with a set of Doctor J heads and he also has a new set of TrickFlow heads he bought for his sons car. He wants to bring both sets over to do some testing on my bench. If I ever get to feeling better that sounds like a fun day.

Then we are on the same page except the project being revived. I heard (read) talk about it but didn’t see anything passed them finally killing the project with no prospect of revival. If they did, I’ve seen nothing.

Me neither and this has been several years. Should be a better option even over the TrickFlow heads if the exhaust port is right. You guys know my thinking on exhaust. Flow numbers mean diddly to me on that end.

Are you saying that perhaps velocity is more important than the exhaust flow numbers?
I always thought what comes in, must go out. I am no head expert by any means just trying to keep up.

It’s all about shape (bell shaped) and velocity. Darren Morgan said to aim for a quiet port that flows 325 FPS and the exhaust will get out. He liked a big exit point at the header flange. On Edelbrock style heads we are limited in size but the speed can be hit. I’ve often kicked around moving the mounting bolt out but I’m not going down that road. It may not pay dividends unless you would get the welder out.

Well Morgan would know I wish I had the $ for a set of heads done by Mast.
 
Well…….can now say that… clean sheet, Vic Bloomer has been pecking away for 2 years on a new Bloomer head for Rod.
A few sets are done, Rod had two sets here that are finished and sold
2.08 valve, Rod shared some numbers off a dyno session at BES with this new head on a 11.5 420 inch motor, with a 263@50 roller, and just gasket matched super victor intake, zero plenum work.
Dyno numbers are just that, and the numbers were very impressive, but Rod said it easily made well over 600 “ real” horsepower. Well less that what the dyno numbers were, and BES is a very respected shop.
Meanwhile, Vic has now turned his attention to the offset version, they wont be available for a while.
Vic, as i have said before, gun to my head, is the guy i would want doing my heads, over anybody…he just has a tough time finding spare time. Hence several years working here and there on making this head what i have zero doubt it will be.
My prediction knowing Vic’s involvement, this head will create quite a stir here soon.

Anything that is good, never is. However, if they do what everyone hopes for, AKA, Kick ***, the cost of quality will soon dissipate.

took Vic this long to “ fix” the standard head deal.
I would figure a year or longer. He just doesnt have the time to stay on it

BTW.. the Trick Flow rep here told me an offset is gonna happen, but it wont be anytime in the near term, maybe 18 mo-2 years

I wish Vic and Rod success with the heads. Never had any dealing with Vic but Rod is a stand up guy IMO.

What’s up with the Trick Flow head? There don’t seem to be many guys running them, or at least going fast. What about the small block Victor head?

the Victor small block head requires a very dedicated racer to run them. 408 plus inches, custom pistons, offset rockers, make enough horsepower to rip apart a stock block, and lots of money to buy. If I sell my green duster and buy a Ritter block and keep my health long enough I would love to have a set. My problem is I’ve gone 9.42 with my Indy headed R3 block with a solid lifter cam. I know I can get more out of the 360-1 heads and with a roller cam but honestly it pays zero dollars to go faster than I am now. It’s just the itch to go faster.
 
Yes I know but that project was pointing in the right direction. I would love to do some testing of that head. It should have been a major success and maybe only needed a minor correction.
He is offering these in a (200cc) version
Talked to him today about a set.
