I have a 72 dart that I am going to change from a/c to non a/c and need some advice and or information. In my feeble little mind I am thinking that all I need to do is graft in the mount for the non a/c box and blower motor (see picture) and plug all the extra holes for the a/c tubes and drain hose. If I am wrong in my thinking let me know and if I am right my other concern is the location of the bolt holes for the blower motor. Will I need to put the heater box in to locate the bolt holes correctly or will it not matter. Any help and information will be greatly appreciated.

The uderdash wiring is different from a/c to non a/c... Research the wiring diagrams before you jump in....

Usually everything is different. The controls, wiring, vents, hoses, box etc... Why change what the factory did ? Pulleys, belts, brackets...

The big thing is that the firewalls are actually different. You can look up on the net, somebody makes "repop" firewalls and show the photos of how they look. different holes, different shape

Frankly all you really need to do is pull the underhood stuff out and use it as is. If you want you could pull the box out and gut what you don't need, remove the evap, make a cover for the firewall holes for the evap, etc.

The other thing you could do is pull the factory AC out, and buy an aftermarket heater and stick under there.

I will try to justify my intentions. When I purchased the car it was a 1/8 mile drag car that had a 383 in it. It was born a 318 car and all of the a/c components were long gone and all of the vacuum lines under the hood that would have operated the a/c underdash components were mia also. My current plan is to basically make a 340 4 sp clone to an extent and I did think about an after market a/c unit but reality set in as far as cost and not to mention keeping my 340 cool as it is at .060 over. The current a/c heater box is not in great shape either to the extent that I probably won't be able the get the seams joined to seal them.

The actual sheetmetal stamping is the same AC to non AC the difference is where the holes are all pressed in it. I will get you pix of my non AC firewall tomorrow.

I have a 68 barracuda non a/c and that it what I cut the blower mounting out of. it looked like to me that the heater hose holes are located in the same area on both and the only difference that I could was the blower hole being larger for the a/c. With that being said that is why I thought I could just insert the non a/c mounting into the a/c mounting hole and the non a/c box would fit accordingly, if i am wrong please let me know.
