Base / clear paintjob, the protection is in the clear. If your going to wet sand and buff, your going to want to use more coats of clear. Your only going to need enough base to put an even color on it. I'd get a gallon and a half of the base, 2 gallons of clear, since some of it will get wet sanded off. Garage jobs sometimes get dry line in em, or dirt, and need wet sanding to get rid of it.
