I put a "wanted" in for black seat belts but have now thought...I wonder if anyone out there has dyed a set before. I actually struggle on wether mine are black faded green or originally green. Car was originally green but has a back and white interior with a black top.

Anyway, if you've dyed your seat belts before. What product did you use?

I did a couple sets with RIT dye I bought at the supermarket, turned out nice! First set I took apart, very labor intensive. Next set I left complete, didn't hurt the mechanisms at all! Did them in the wife's washing machine, made lots of noise, just make sure she it not home when you do it...LOL

Thanks. I read up on that stuff. Looks like what to use and btw they don’t recommend a washing machine anymore. You grab her favourite pot and do it on the stove now. Lol

Did the belts in my convertible (ya know how they fade) used RIT dye boiled on the stove in an old pot let them soak and they let them dry came out great

I did mine last week in a bucket using RIT dye (costs less than $5). Put complete belts in and left them soak overnight. I used salt and white vinegar in the solution then rinsed well and dried in the sun. They look much better now as they had that faded green cast to them before. Now they're dark black.
