1972 Dodge Colt

-
The guy I spoke to said he was "the manager".
Counter guy was ready to give me a new one till the blue shirt got involved.

I believe I would call customer service.

Not a Colt but close .. at Chrysler’s at Carlisle a few weeks ago

Engine going together now.
Head is on and torqued.
Smith Bros is making me one push-rod to check my math.
If correct I will order the set.
In this picture the intake is on, but it has to come back off.
This intake only has an early AFB bolt pattern.
I will have the Holley pattern drilled to run this carb after a re-fresh.
I don't want to run an adapter because of hood clearance.
Headers turned out nice I think.

What intake is that and what did you use to mount the carburlator sideways?

Rusty, this is a fabricated intake.
It's based on a 59 aluminum one barrel intake with the 4 barrel plenum welded on it.
Professionally done, never seen anything like it before.
Here are some more detailed pictures.

I got an email from Hoosier today.
What is your shipping address to send you a new tube?

WooHoo!

I guess Hoosier cares more for their customers than Summit does. It seems that the BIG BOX guys need a lesson in customer service, but sadly the public will continue buying from them.

are those tubes date coded? wonder how long it was sitting around

Smith Bros push rod showed up today, perfect fit, so I ordered the set.
Started finishing the rest of the front suspension and brake lines up front.
Had a Summit order lost in space and had to reorder for 1 AN Tee Fitting.
It showed up this weekend after 3 weeks.
Like herding cats.
Just when you think it's under control, there they go again.

Back at it today.
Spent all day rebuilding the two front calipers, they are almost 50 years old.
KH400 single piston units.
Airheart bought them out and Hurst bought out Airheart.
I could not find new pistons, but did have o-rings and pads.
I am in a no win situation with these units.
I plan on changing the front end over to struts next year to get away from these old parts.
It will be safe, but it's just not worth the time and effort.
The A arm suspension, Strange Spindles, caliper mounts and Spindle Mount are the issue.
I don't need to get lighter, but simpler will be nice.
Here are the calipers on the mounts.
Packing wheel bearings tomorrow and mounting the wheels with the disk rotors.

The pieces are looking great. I totally understand the obsolete aspect.

4 wheels mounted, starting to look like a car again.
Of course I mounted the directional disk rotors backward, but hey that is me.
Good practice taking the wheels off and remounting.
I really like the polished wheel look on the Colt.

Push rods are here, maybe tomorrow they will go in.
Worked on some sheet metal inside and mounted shifter.
Half the brake system tightened and tweaked.
If all these parts stay installed and working it will be started soon.
Really starting to look like a race car now and not just a pile of parts.
