Stop in for a cup of coffee

I had a weird thing happen at work during the heat. We use an electronic key for some of our alarms and locks on substations. I was opening a lock and my key burned up throwing sparks and smoke. Surprised the hell out of me, I just let it drop to the ground. Think it was 100 degrees out that day...
Good Morning

Got the compressor together, wired for 110V, runs great and quiet then after around 85-90 psi seems to load somehow and blow the breaker, Motor runs fine without the comp on it, thinking the cooing shroud needs to be fitted a bit better I hope? Yes new check valve also. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

What size breaker, could it be the breaker?

Whats the FLA on it and breaker size? Maybe it just draws that much.

20 amp should draw 13. Just changed the oii also. Thinking it is getting hot on the compressor side. Possibly? Shroud was a wreck fiberglass it back together, seem to fit ok might tweak it some today.

Not sure nothing on the comp unit itself, Tim made it up at some point, other than that quiet, builds up fast also. Get it right should keep up with the glass blaster.

I am hoping it is just not getting enough forced cooling air around the cylinders.

  • Not that I see was wondering that also, no wiring for it in the motor, the motor stays cool, just the comp part gets the cylinders hot to the touch.

Mine will not run from an extension cord. Has to be plugged directly into the wall receptacle

You used compressor oil correct.
I have about 6 quarts keep forgetting about bringing it for Tim everyyear.

If cooling isn't the issue (seems like it could be) could there be high resistance in the power cord, esp. near where it terminates to the compressor? I had a hot water heater once that sorta melted the wire about two inches back where it connected to terminal screws, cut that back and all good.

Has a 10 gauge to the wall about 6' long and wall is wired with 12 ga New 10 Ga plug and wire was stripped back. 90 weight is for compressors, I read it on the internet!
