I wanted a lot more initial timing so I got to work. I used a small old degree wheel I had laying around. I made a adapter on the lathe to connect the degree wheel to the dist.
I don't remember what I used to lock the shaft to the housing, probably a hose clamp. I ended up with 11 degrees at the dist, that equals 22 at the crank and was just what I wanted.
