Yall Ain't Gonna Bleeb This!

Uncle Tony says you need to weld the inside of the slot, instead of the outside, because of "things". Also you apparently, for best results, you need to do it with the distributor in the car. I saw the video, it can't be wrong.

I guess welding the insides of the slots would do the same thing, but what's the advantage?

I like it, I bought one of those limiter plates. ended up stealing it out of the distributor it was in and using it as a gauge to modify the slot on my slant distributor.

You need to watch the video. He gives a reason, it may even be true.

I don't doubt it. All I do know is, every manual and book that describes doing it illustrates modifying the outside of the slots. That's how it's been done for decades and it works. I'm sure it works his way, too.

Be careful there, because the slant six distributor is different somehow then the V8. I have the limiter plate in mine and had to put it all the way down to the lowest slot and it advances more than the slot is supposed to allow. It's not the same.

Did it work for you? I can email it to you if ya want.
I'm going to

Makes complete sense. Fo' once evn i cain see that! Probably something to do with the rotation of the distributor having to only hit six plug wires instead of eight maybe but then again what the hell do I know?

I really don't know what the difference is, but I'm not the only one that's seen it. Several people have emailed Don Gould including me asking him to either offer one slant 6 specific, or at least offer a plate that has more limiting ability. He flat refused me. In no uncertain terms. That's why I welded my own governor plate.

AND there's this little ditty. Don Gould of FBO is a pretty dang sharp guy. His limiter plates all have the same inside slot measurements as the Mopar governors they are designed to be used on. Where Don makes the limitation is on the outside of the slots, so he must know something UTG does not. Just like everybody else that's done it for decades. I'm not debating it might work. I'm simply saying UTG is pretty badly outnumbered.

Wow Man! I wonder if it has something to do with whoever programmed the thing. they cut their things out of stainless steel.
