I am needing to rebuild a 727 that will stand up to my new 408 that is being built by BPE. I have a running 1970 727 behind my current 360 and a stock complete 1973 727 I got for parts. Is there any benefit to building the newer unit? I bought the rebuild kit for the 1970 unit (bushings, seals, etc) some time ago, so perhaps those parts will work in the '73?

Newer Bellville spring and wide front bushing would be good. Reading a 727 trans upgrade and rebuild book would be golden.

1973 is better, the kit is different, but some bushings are the same.

are any of these for a 340/360? Or are they 318’s?

I am having a shop do the work for me. They've built several 727's for our family and have done an outstanding job.

The newer 1 will have part throttle kick down. There really isn’t much difference in them to matter. I can use the 73 parts into your 70 case. Kim

What he said. ^^^^ Part throttle kickdown is enough to make the decision for me. That's a nice option to have.

Wide bushing in the high gear drum and the wide mating surface on the stator support is the gem of a 1971 and up 727. Use them when possible.

The part throttle is ok, but not a deal maker or breaker.
