MOOG products good quality?

Didnt someone on here have a Moog ball joint fall apart right out of the box? Or maybe he was on FBBO.

I posted about that issue. the ball stud fell right out of the cast iron knuckle. I found quality lower ball joints from this place, and bought them from a parts house in Texas. They are still in service and working great.

I rebuilt the front end using Moog parts about 1000 miles earlier, went to get an alignment and found the lower ball joints worn out. I greased them at every oil change. After seeing the ball joint had fallen apart in the box, I suspect it wasn't actually that it had worn out, but that it was not manufactured correctly.

The alignment tech jacked the front end up enough to lift each front tire off the ground and then used a long bar to pry the tire up. You could see the play in the lower ball joint was over 3/4" when doing this.

I am actually amazed that the front wheel didn't just separate while going over a bump that unloaded the front suspension. After all, who doesn't catch a bit of air under their tires from time to time while out on the open road traveling cross country? We are talking about the Rapid Transit System here.

those are the ones i used after pulling the moog junk out. probably went that brand because of your thread.. they are nice pieces.. at the time those lower ball joints were hard s hell to find. had to source from two different places. almost seemed like they stopped making them. it was like 3 years ago if i remember correctly. the second i pulled the car out of the garage i knew the problem was fixed.

Sounds good, but, what is your definition of "lifetime limited warranty" and "manufacturing and material defects"? Is what most of us would consider premature wear covered?

The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects for as you own the car. Meaning if the part fails do to an issue with the materials use to make it or the means in which it was assembled we will replace it free of charge. What the warranty would not cover is wear do to normal driving conditions or improper use.

When it comes to suspension, I want to do that job only ONCE!!!! Anyone with half a brain, will pay way more for those GOOD parts not junk with a "warranty"> Problem is finding a good part to buy.

Here we go... moog vs delphi vs factory. Let me preface by saying that i believe the parts i removed from these arms are factory. I know i cant prove it. I was not at the factory in 73 and i haven't owned the parts my entire life. But i have no reason to lie and all tbe signs point to to it.. tell me.. who eber chaned bJ's before doing a brake job like ever??? And the car has favtory brakes.. Let me also day that you guys were right and i was wrong. No way around not welding the BJ's in... IF.. i want to re use these arms and use moog or delphi.. let me also say that i re threaded in the bj's i took out and they thread in tight. I dont have a caliper but they are slightly larger than the aftermarket.

Imo. Life is a crap shoot and you get what you get.. moog might be better on tursday and delphi on friday. Moog says USA and delphi says turkey. Aftermakety will never be as good as factory. But its all we have. I also dont buy warranty. Buy the best part you can. Imo. From left delphi has the grease nipple... moog is middle and facory (fully threaded) has the grease stains

As far as bushings... moog sucks. The stampings were offset and super thin and came apart when i pressed them in. Notice the factory has the thicker flanges then delphi on left. then moog middle.

So.. im using delphi bush.. and prob weld in the moog BJ's only because the boots on the moog were a bit nicer. . But as stated its all garbage. Buy NOS when you can.

And sorry for being disagreeable. You guys are the masters. When the master says weld it. You weld it.
