Stop in for a cup of coffee

Welded around the spacer, now another pass outside. Then i can balance rim before i mount tire. Just grind off the heavy parts.

We used to race Baja Bugs on wheels modified in similar fashions. Some were VW centers trimmed to fit appropriately sized 15" rims. Some were VW with the added spacer section. Granted balance and being concentric were not that much of a priority for the speeds we abused them at . Per class rules we had to run steelies, and custom steelies were just not available at the time. Co-driver and I go out pre-running. Near the top of this one ridge was a massive boulder right next to the very narrow passage. "Mark that rock in your head for race day!". Rock was covered in little chunks of Centerlines and other now messed up aluminum wheels . 1st lap race day, lotta traffic with the corresponding dust up that hill we go. Had a Unlimited Baja Bug right in front of us pelting us with some sizable aggregate and plenty dust. Couldn't really see where we were other than the wheel tracks directly in front of us. PWAAAANNNNGGG!!:eek: "That rock!" in unison we said. Kept racing, nowhere to stop and look. We didn't feel anything detrimental happening and we just kept on keepin' on until we got to the driver change/pit stop. "Better look at that right rear!". The rim was bent so far in we had to get a 24" crescent with a snipe to bend it far enough away from the lug bolts to change it out . Tire looked fine, inner tube bulging out through the gap . Gassed it up, strapped the car owner into his racer and off he went.

Good morning all!

Guess what ISIN'T back from the shop yet???????
if they don't call today then I am going to go get it no matter what.

Casually go to the shop and ply them with Starbuck's :D
Well I would've thought money could do the trick. i AM paying them...
seriously just two things, re-tap the steering shaft and put on a nut, and re-adjust brakes after they inspect them. the only reason my car is there is because I just wanted a professional shop to inspect my work since I am still learning. :BangHead:

Is that the steering shaft that had the needle nosed Vice Grips keeping the wheel in place? Very creative I have to say.

Reminds me. Gotta put the 2022 stickers on the Express before Sunday. Been stopped before a couple times with them stickers in the glove box .
This has not been registered since 2019. I am going to have to pay back registration and fines. Going to be a lot.
