Mystery lamp ?

My 67 dart, non AC (never was) car has a blue wire under the dash going to G on the firewall connector under the dash. G firewall connector in the engine compartment has no wire or connector.

The blue wire is the wire that inables the compressor clutch.

Why is it there on a non AC car? Who knows, other than using the same harness for multiple applications.

Post 18 asked about the shift indicator, post 23 you indicate floor shift car, problem solved.

My 69 Polara is a console car and the unused shift indicator lamp was just coiled up under the dash.

Picture of the socket would confirm this.

Orange wiring on the lighting was "always" the color code for backlighting for the gages, A/C buttons, shift indicator, or ashtray light.

I suppose the OP could use that light circuit for illuminating the key, but it would always be ON when the dash lights were on. I always thought the key light was controlled by the time delay relay circuit (yellow with red tracer I think).

I thought about that .

I thought about that
But it would only illuminate the key when the parking or headlights were on.

The dome light cir would make more sense.

By the way if your car is a console automatic the light for PRND21 and the tach comes from the same dash light cir.

My cuda has a key switch light, I changed the ignition switch the other day and had it out...pretty sure it was a orange wire.
Look above your key and see if there is a hole for the light to glow through..
I can take a picture of mine if you want.

That would be great . I am trying to visualize how the ignition light mounts .
My 70 Charger had the ignition light but that was column mounted.

Sorry upon further inspection it is a yellow wire. I took a picture of it anyway. The bulb is on a bracket that is sandwiched between the ignition switch and dash housing.
I also took a picture of the hole above the key that the light glows through.
Not sure if all dash housings have the hole or only the one that had this option.

Ignition switch keyhole light is yellow w black stripe. I have redone 2 AO1 light package harnesses. One of which I added to a 67 barracuda which was never offered including the time delay relay and keyhole switch light (had to drill hole for lamp). AO1 includes brown and yellow wires for the map light, yellow with black striped that go from both double spade door switches to the time delay relay and into the keyhole light to trigger the relay when either door is opened. A pink that goes into the glovebox lamp. An additional orange that clips into the ashtray mount housing.

They all have the hole. If the option isnt selected it's just left open.

The wire is traced to the area of the radio. ash tray lamp ? lol
