I’d like to see some rare beaters that are driven.

Here's my daily driver. I guess you can say it's rare in 2021. Sees north of 5k rpm on a daily basis. Needs work on the secondary squirters.

I love the vibe except for the spoiler. What is with that gigantic gas tank? Man....That looks huge!

Nearest town to me is 60 miles, 100 for the larger city.
If I want to go anywhere other than my little town I need a big gas tank. It's a 32 gallon out of a dodge van.
Don't have a superbird, so why not. Better than looking at metal in the garage. Stick it on a car. Wing originally came from the blackbird state patrol car.
 
Here is another beater. Drive it to work a few times a week now. It's on the job site and even has wood on the trunk.

As long as you use the gauge that came with the tank, it should work. If I recall correctly the Vans around 76' came with a 28 gal. tank(metal), but the option was a 36 gal. tank(plastic), as in the photo. I had a 72' van and tried to install a 36 gal. one, but it would not fit. had to keep the smaller one. The 340 I had in it sucked the tank dry often. Vacations were a bummer.
 
Your correct. It was a 36. Just put 34 gallons in it.
The gauges are aftermarket.
Fuel sending unit is the stock one that was on the van.
The trunk was basically rotted in the spare tire holding area so....
no more stopping at every gas station.
 
I've been a bit disappointed on the beater-quality in this tread so posting son's next daily driver.

1969 Dodge Polara 500, 1 of 573 convertibles (all engines), 1 of 2 known to exist with the HP440 from the factory.

Not a beater, getting restored but will still drive it like a daily.

Again far from rare and not a beater but well driven. My 67 Barracuda, here in Seaside Oregon on one of its multiple trips (1000 miles one way) to Oregon

Beater? Yes, still. Hadn’t run since the early 80’s. Got running and redid the brakes. Rare? Yes, one of 271. Dart 270, 273 Charger engine, Hurst 4 speed and 3.23 sure grip 7.25 with original 13” Cragars. Valuable, debatable.

70 Gran Coupe 'vert. 1 of just a few hundred. Has some rust coming back. Bought it in September of 88. Ol man and I brought it back and had it on the road April of 89. It definitely has battle scars. And that's fine with me. I can tell you the story for every one of em. Not a winter car, but, drive/race it during summer months.

I’ve posted this car before. The only reason I’m posting it now is because I completely agree with the sentiment of why not drive a car that’s waiting to be restored if you can. When I get really discouraged about working on my ‘65 Dart GoGo coupe I hop in the convertible and go for a ride. It’s funny, I find my self driving it for local errands more and more. It’s amazing how many people wave, smile, or yell something like “I love your car!” If I drive it to the local Walmart, someone always seems to stop and talk to me about it. Once, I found a woman just standing by it smiling, and she told me her first car was just like it. Even if they aren’t concours winners, even if they aren’t done, get ‘em out there and enjoy them, and let people see them. It does everyone good.

This is the only 1961 Sunliner I've seen w/ a 3-speed & 292 Y-Block. I was visiting new family (found on Ancestry) and this was on their farm (first owners). It had spent weeks open to snow/rain.
We put a top on and son daily drove it until recently (got a 69 XL, another beater). Should be getting a new slip yoke this week and have it back on the road right after.

I am envious of your headlight trim rings. Tried to get one from an out of state craigslist ad. Spent weeks finding people to make the buy and ship it. It got sold right before I got the last detail worked out.
 
I get a lot more happiness cobbling these together and driving them than I would doing a full restore. Although it's my son doing most of the cobbling these days & I help.

There was winged car at a Fling years ago that I swear someone was living out of. It could have been a Joe dirt tribute but it was 100% OEM rough. Rusted out quarters, one head light up..bags of clothes in the back seat. Front cone was all warped. Truly ghastly next to 90+ point winged restorations.

Here’s my 1965 Dart Charger, although you couldn’t tell anymore.

Has a slant 6, a833 OD (factory 4 speed car), disc brakes up front, 8.25 rear end, lbp all the way around. Rusted out floor pans, rear quarters, delaminated windshield. Outdated interior restoration with blue piping.

Not a daily driver, but at the very least, I like to try to drive it around the block ever week. About a month ago my 4 year old started asking if we could work on the car together. That’s just pure bliss for me.

I always like checking out the old drivers at shows to see what the factory did 50 plus years ago routing wise. All the resto-mods are all custom under the hood.
