Which ATI balancer is everyone running? Do I want steel or Aluminum. I know I want Internal Balance because my new engine will be internally balanced. When I look on summit it seems there are too many options.
Engine Specs:
340 block
Molner 3.79 crank
Molner H beam Rods
RaceTec Pistons
Trick Flow Heads
Cam: undecided
Intake: Victor
You get the idea of where this engine going.

Read the ATI application chart closely, it shows steel & aluminum balancers for internally balanced SBM.

Yes, I was... I am more curious on what applications people are choosing. I am guessing some want the aluminum to lighten up their rotating assembly. Is there a downside? For a street strip set up what is the recommendation?

For the street/strip application, I'd run the steel balancer. I run the aluminum balancer but my application is race only.

The steel inertia ring will have more inertia than the aluminum. Unless you're running a super lightweight crankshaft system I'd use the steel. 65'

Pretty much my identical engine.
I have a steel ATI balancer on mine.

You may have to oblong one hole on the bottom pulley, that's all I had to do.

Any pulley alignment issues?

I have a billet Moroso crank pulley.
No water pump pulley.
Early A body alt. bracket that had to be spaced out 1/2"

I have the ATI steel balancer on my '73 340. I had to grind off almost all of the timing tab on the aluminum cover to get the balancer to seat all the way on the crank. Other than that, no issues.
