Yea, nothing strange about it, other than invading the current owners privacy and putting them on a guilt trip.
I own a car that someone contacted me about and he had owned it in the 70s. He has a sad story about being an alcoholic and losing his job and then needed money and sold the car to a guy who was like 4 owners before me. I wasn't even born when it happened and even if I were, it's not really my problem and the car Isn't for sale.
So I know what its like to have my property beached.
If this were legit I can with help with a vin number lookup but if it's to put someone on a guilt trip about something they purchased legally then naaa. They shouldn't be creepy
