Found out today that my '69 Barracuda was an export car of some type.
The car, like the tag, has been through so many hands over the years I don't have much history on it.

Is there anyone who makes reproduction tags?

Also;
I'm guessing that there is no way to find out where my car was exported to/from by the fender tag?

@65dartcharger had reproduced from one of his export 65 Darts the Dodge export tag. He sent me one of which I can take a pic of it later this morning

Since I've had the car over a year now and just found this information out (thanks to my Mopar club president :thankyou: ) I can wait until Alaskan TA has a moment to contact me.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Not that im aware of. The build sheet does not either. Mine just says "label-mfg for export X66" It also sepcifies kilometer speedo X21. At the bottom of the sheet it says "17 SPECIAL ORDER".
My car went to switzerland, have other documentation on it.

I'm just happy to find such an off-the-wall thing about my car :thumbsup:
Though it does have a MPH speedometer, that may not mean anything. Some previous owner could have had it re-installed when it came back to the States.
Plus so much of my car isn't original anymore; 440, 727, '75 Dart front disk brakes, etc...

True, mine had the KPH swapped for a MPH unit when I got it. Still does actually but I have a NOS KPH for it when it gets restored.

Y09 and the E prefix VON number actually indicate 'Overseas order', IE, any car order received from overseas.

Some cars were ordered for sales in overseas countries, but many of what some consider 'export' cars never left the USA.

Chrysler had a Military sales division. This allowed any US service personnel an opportunity to order a new car and have it delivered for them at any dealership of their choice - in the United States.

So it was possible for a Navy guy serving in Japan to order a new car, and have it shipped to a California dealership near the Naval base he was returning to. He could pick up his new car and drive it home to Milwaukee. (that is just one possible example of many)

Thanks for the input!!
I just watched the video by Chris Birdsong (junkerup) about the lady who ordered a Duster while stationed overseas but picked it up in Cali.
Seeing I live near several active Naval, Air and Army bases it is possible that my car was bought similarly.

@65 Dartman
Since Performance Graphics is still closed (and the price was a push) I ordered one off Ebay. Also mine wasn't red though that might have been an option?

There were different types, colored and not for different years.

I have not seen any originals in a rectangle shape though.....

To the OP, if I had one with a worn original tag I would leave it be.

I'll keep it, but as shown in the picture, the printing is nearly gone.
I've got a repro coming and it'll make a good conversation piece at the gatherings.

BUT, if the car was from a year where there were 49-state cars and California cars many servicemen would have the car delivered to the nearest state that is NOT California. I heard the story of a guy who had his late 80s Mustang delivered to Reno instead of the Bay Area (stationed at Moffitt in Mountain View).

I was looking at a sweet 1979 Z28 while serving in The Corps in Okinawa in late 1978. Then America hit me with reality when I returned. I bought a used 1973 Duster 340 for $750, thus the affliction.

My '71 Demon exported brand new from Hamtamck to Belgium in May, 1971 doesn't have these kind of metallic tag under the hood, but an export blue sticker on the driver door jamb :

International sale "I" code on the fender tag :

International  I  code.jpg

So, I suppose that the export metallic tag did exist only during the '60s and not during the '70s
My two cents...
