It has been a heck of summer rain season! +9" of rain in the last few weeks! We need it so I can't complain but I have not been doing much since I can't get the Valiant in the garage. Spent the last few weeks working on the garage so I can get the lift where I want it so I can stack 2 cars and get the Valiant in the garage... likely 2 weeks away.
One more weekend of putting up shelves and getting things rearranged in the garage and I should be able to move the lift and get back at the Valiant. I did not really realize how much of a disaster my garage was...
I have been ordering tons of parts from Year One, Classic Industries and Legendary Interiors so I need to get it done!

...impatiently waiting here, this is my favorite show and it feels like I waiting on the new season to begin when the old season ended with a huge cliff hanger!
I feel like since pandemic Jim has been out playing on his bike .. then he sent the camera crew home after he blows us away with this crazy reconstruction
You guys are cracking me up! I will get back to it I promise! I am starting to think I need to actually work on it this weekend a bit instead of working on the garage just give you a fix to hold you over....

Guess what I found! A buddy up near Phoenix has all the goodies to dress up the 360 with 273 Commando D/Stock trim! Fancy OEM valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. That will really make the Valiant interesting under the hood. He has to look the for air clearer but is sure he has one.
Some info on 273's and the D/Stock. I had no idea what he was talking about until I read this... and it was the right year, 1966.

Good grief it is humid. I’m spent but I have one of the two major projects mostly done to get the Valiant inside. Four weeks of cleaning and putting up track shelving to get space the walls vs the bakers racks. It feels so much more spacious. Now for the high lift door kit and I can stack two of these babies.
I would not hire that concrete contractor again. Man that expansion joint is CROOKED.

Nice. Good read on the 273 D/Stock. I knew the commando made 235hp, but had no idea of the 275hp D/Stock. Awesome info. Good score on rocker covers and air breather.

I just stumbled on your thread and read through it. Back in my high school days, I never really appreciated the Valiant Signet. Everybody was into Cuda, Challengers, and Dusters.
Over the years, I have grown to like the look of these little cars. I wish that I had your skill set for metal work. I'm going to enjoy watching this thread to the end.

High lift kit ordered. Had to unwind the spring to get the dimensions and values. I bought nice winding bars a few weeks ago. Not as scary as I was envisioning. The roof is finally fixed so a little drywall work to do too. Getting so close.
Just be very careful with those winding bars. A good friend, who was a professional door installer was killed because he wasn't.
sorry to hear that. Yes I have the upmost respect for the amount of energy stored in that spring.
So cool.... I use Southern Polyurethane for all my work and there is a guy that has a restoration side business that is a master with metal working. His real job took him from Maryland to Tucson for the week and he stopped by today. It was great meeting him as he has helped me on so many of my dumb metal working questions over the years on the SPI forums. He even gave me a few free pointer on working out the welds on the Valiant!

I was thinking about this car stacking problem all wrong. Kaelyn bought me a new RoadRunner for my birthday and there is suddenly no problem with stacking 2 B Bodies with the garage the way it is.
