I am not sure whether these heads are J heads? They have been ported by the looks, they were on my 340 +.040" and worked well, my main question is will they work on a 318 +.040" I am building. Will be 10:1-10.5:1 compression, flat tappet hydraulic around .480" lift, will the intake valve clear the bore?

The valve is .015 bigger than a 2.02 on each side...since we are talking circles here. The valves across are 3.65, then margin between , say .025? and on each side .100-.? =3.875..
About .075 left of the 3.95 after subtracting.

The chamber is probably opened up to a 4 inch + bore size, so that is what it is.. but the valve fits.

If the valve fits, you must acquit!

Oh wait we’re talking about something different right?

These are J heads?

I don't see a letter on them at all. Open chamber small block heads are all so close to the same it almost doesn't matter so I wouldn't worry about it.

Itll clear .....a few times the bore has been notched (ie 273) to unshroud the valve as the big valves get close to the edges. Looks like on a 3.95 bore you got alot of room to notch with that head gaskets 4.180+ fire ring size.

They're 2.02 or 1.94's.
Those are pop up locks giving another .050
They ARE j heads. They are not 1.88 and the exhaust valves seats are cut deep/sunk down and that's why the chamber work around them.
