Is this adopted into the Mopar family as of 1987 ??? Or is this the adopted kid, though he eats at our table will NEVER be part of the family.....

To me there is no right or wrong answer, it's all how you see it.

I'm saving the details for our next video on our channel.... but the details should have nothing to do if it's part of the mopar family or not. :)

That's a mighty clean looking Mopar adopted family member!
Pull a chair on up to the table and eat with the rest of the family.

I like it. It looks like it has been well taken of all it's life too. AMC's/Ramblers are part of the Mopar family now, in my opinion. I like Studebakers a lot also. Another under rated car company.

Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, DeSoto.
AMC was purchased just to get the "Jeep" branded product. Dumped the rest of the company.
Everything since the Seventies has just been a dilution of the real Mopar® blood line. Each subsequent purchaser/"partner" has just stripped the company of its roots for profit.
Daimler ™, Cerberus ™ , Fiat ™, Stelantis ™ Really ? No more Plymouth, Dodge truck, soon to be no more Chrysler and possibly even Dodge.
Mopar was a philosophy, now just a licensing company.

Not a Mopar, but cool as hell. Mopar acquired AMC for the Jeep. PERIOD. End of story.

I felt that warm, outstretched right-hand-of-fellowship through the screen.... :)

"Mopar was a philosophy, now just a licensing company"..... true, but sad.

Yes... for sure. More so than the crap they are making now and the whole fleet of E-Cars that are coming real soon. It kind of reminds me of an early Dart any how. Those were good cars.

It's all a matter of timing.
Dodge Brothers was bought by Chrysler in 1928.
AMC was bought by Chrysler in 1987.
If you deny an AMC because it was acquired, then you have to deny Dodge for the same reason.
AMC is no less a Chrysler (Mopar) than Dodge. Period.

I worked at an AMC dealer and they did have some nice cars. But the ugly ones are all everyone remembers. All car had there problems back then just some where better at hiding them

Very interesting point of view. Never heard it said that way before. Thank you for a new perspective!

Chrysler " aquired" Dodge and it never got rid of that company. They were the key technology company of that time suppling parts to the other Auto companies. starting with Ford.
How long did AMC/Eagle stay around ?

Oh man you have no idea how bad they were. We were at the point of cannibalizing brand new car to try and keep that Renault junk running. Crazy

GM screwed AMC over big time twice. Once with the Wankel engine that they pulled out of the deal for the Pacer. Then that oil leaking POS V6 in the Jeep. AMC tried to sue them over it but who can sue GM and and win? Good luck with that. The Jeep engine deal killed them.

Sure, they wanted Jeep, but that wasn't all.
They wanted to refresh their engineering department, which had grown stagnant.
AMC Engineering's influence could be seen throughout Chrysler's product development for years after, from the LA redesign into the Magnum engines, to the development of the V10; both the truck and the Viper versions.
AMC's acquisition also gave Chrysler a share of Rennault (okay, could be considered good or bad...) and it's extended European network.
