i got a section of land that is starting to get overgrown
my lawnmower doesnt have the ground clearance to do the job so im wondering if i were to remove the rubber blades from a 2 stage walk behind snowthrower would that be strong/sharp enough to act as a brush hog?

Huh? No!

How big a piece of land we talkin? Maybe look for a used brush hog, "DR whatever they are called

You have a tractor?

the entire lot is 2.5 acres
subtract the house, the pond and the lawn and your basically left with the half the boundary line

i do not have a tractor, i dont think i can justify the cost of one for how little i would use it

i do have a 18 horse riding mower
i just came across someone getting rid of an old mower deck...i betcha it would be fun to converter that to a pusher type brush cutter, kinda following the pattern of the video i posted

that would be too sensible, and not as much fun as building one

That thing someone posted DIY would be one brutal SOB on 2 1/2 acres I vote rent, although you might build something for the lawn mower, does have a PTO?

No, it does not, just the single pulley underneath

For a while I ran a snow thrower attachment on it, and it was a simple as dropping the deck, installing the snow thrower and putting the belt on

I was thinking I could convert the free deck for that
make some mounting brackets, ad two wheels, cut the front open to expose the blades and bobs yer uncle

I'll see if I can pull it up on google earth tomorrow to get an idea of truly how big a "path" I would want to cut, but it is clearly not the whole 2.5 acres

Renting one may be the best option

the red stripes is roughly the area that needs to be cleared

I was gonna say, a section of land is 640 acres (1 sq/mi).

Pay someone with a tractor and a brush hog. My Dad and I used to brush hog fields and while I didn't know what he was charging I would venture to guess it's worth it. You'll be sitting back watching a machine that's meant for the job and not busting your *** with some tool that's inadequate.

Got any neighbors with a tractor? They might do it for gas money.

the guy who lives 3 houses down is the father in law of the guy next door...and im pretty sure he has one (though i dont know if he has a brush hog attachment)

on the bright side, he is one of the few people in town who still speak Dutch (somewhat) so you know im in with him

ANything bigger than your finger and you need something else. Size up on your equipment. You won't regret it.

They do make solid blades for large gas powered trimmers. (like circular saw blades.)

Me, I would spend more time and effort on cleaning up the pond....it is looking nasty. lol.

I bet if you search on Facebook your zip code, there’s someone that will bush hog it for you for less than 100 bucks

That'd what I used at the old house...I may still have one kicking around

That's an old picture...I do better keeping up with the pond then the outskirts of the property...which is where this is
