Well, you seem one dimensional.... as in how fast can I pass through the 1/4 mile. I like that also, but I don't like all my car rides to end in a mere few seconds. We venture out for hours.. and sometimes days. We just got back, by the way...

Cool ride! What is that beast a Rambler?
I have said, I am better than some people, :steering::thumbsup:I have 2 more doors!!

I remember as a kid going to the wrecking yard to get a rear axle for my javelin and the counter guy kept calling it a rambler...
Even at that young age as now I knew he was being a di**...

My Stepdad had a 62 Classic with a 3 on the tree and o/d. I was too young then to care about gas mileage but I bet it got high 20's on the highway. He later bought a 67 Ambassador with a 232/auto. It had manual steering and brakes but beautiful dark brown paint called "Stallion Brown". My sister's second car was a 68 Javelin. Red/white stripe. A real sharp car. I took it to Prom in 69. Wish I had pics of that.

He may not have meant anything by it. Nash Rambler and Hudson merged in the fifties to try and survive because both were getting beat by the big 3 automakers. Nash and Hudson "sort of" dropped their names and went with AMC. I say sort of because my '64 title still says "Nash" on it. Remember the Hudson Hornets? AMC Hornets? Rambler to some become a trademark name that stemmed from Nash. Because Nash Rambler was a given. Can't say what the guy meant, but maybe he was just using the trademark name.

Oh he meant something by it! He was snickering and laughing and even when I would correct him he would say it again and Snicker and laugh...

Actually, though, I would have stood proud and said "you bet it's a rambler" without shame :)

Last real scramber I saw was in Murdo, South Dakota. Nice car, neglected and a guy was trying to get it "road ready" again.

I almost bought a 65 Marlin. Look wise it was kind of cross between a 66 Barracuda and 66 Charger.
I was looking at what I thought was Charger for over 5 years. It was sitting beside a barn a fair distance from the road.
Turned out to be a Marlin. Cool car.

Me too Dave. It was maroon with a AMC 327 under the hood. A set of Cragars and I would have been set. LOL

the machine Amc had some radicalcars back then . then the Pacer happened

There's a Pacer at our local track...
I can't remember what it was running but it sure looked like nothing I would want to mess with..
I always wanted a gremlin x.. seen one at a car show a couple years ago..

with 3000.00 a slant 6 will beat a 340
Gremlin"X"...with a 304...same numbers as a 340 anyway.
there were always a few Gremlins street racing in the 70's one had the 304 the other a 401 or 390 , they were both super fast not many wanted to

the gremlins that ran on the street in the 70's were fast as can be , 304 pr 390 not many wanted to run against them . there is a nice AMX for sale close to me and i'm thinking of buying it . then i think Mopar parts are hard to find Amc must be worse
