I bought a " restored " grille for a '68 Dodge Dart GTS off of a member here a couple weeks ago and received it yesterday.......well ofcourse the little grill sections are broken on it all across the top, not sure if the drooling gorillas in the shipping industry did it or it was already liked that. Secondly when i consider something restored I am thinking it is restored back to the way it came from the factory and not whatever color or texture or lack thereof of paint quality.......has smooth silver paint instead of a textured feel argent, the black paint is not crisp and it just was put on all willy nilly like maybe Ray Charles did it. I really should not be surprised because in general people dissapoint and in all honesty I think most people either wouldn't care or are too stupid to notice that the grille is a huge POS!!!!!

Man that sucks. Unfortunately it highlights the difference between what people believe "restored" means....

:BangHead:

Looks right to me! Have you ever seen an NOS grille? I have owned several and this one looks MUCH better than those! Show a picture of the entire grille so we can see it...

Looks correct to you?????? Well im guessing maybe you need to go visit an eye doctor because IF you have ever owned any NOS grilles then I can assure you that they use argent paint and not smooth silver and also they didn't weld the bars BELOW the surface!!!!!! UGHHHHH WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED THAT I GOT THAT KIND OF RESPONSE :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::wtf:

See what the seller has to say about the broken pieces and go from there.
He told me to turn it into insurance but that is besides the point......the grille was not restored it was made to look better than a used one by an amateur and they actually failed at that so in my opinion and I am right, the grille needs to be sent out to a professional restorer so it can be redone so it matches the quality of the rest of my car.

Well I hope the cost was way lower than a professional job. I know it sucks to have to pay twice. You could out the guy here or just try to warn any other members that are interested in his parts, and link to this thread. or chalk it off to another fu**ins from fabo members.

The thing you're not mentioning is when you purchase the grill did you get an amateur restored grill or professionally restored Grill most of the people you're dealing with on this site or doing home restoration and you should have asked about quality of work and details that you complain about...if you paid under $400 with bezels...you got what you paid for...You talk like you should know better....if there is not fresh paint in cracks that broke the shippers broke it....get a refund if you not happy ...

Demand pics before you buy it, in the box. I'd not be happy either. Looj\ked good in the sellers photo. Try getting an insurance claim for that....If it didnt come in a wooden crate, its gonna be tough as the shipper will blame the packing every time.

They came broken OEM/NOS? Probably never. The black paint however isn't super bad. Shiny silver was never done by the OEM either.

Yep, it's at least $500 to have a 68/69 grille & bezels restored properly. Plus the core charge of $200/$300. You do get what you pay for.

Shipping is not what it used to be. It's much faster these days but the price we pay is in the handling of the packages. They simply don't care about breaking what's inside the box as long as they can get it through the process quicker.

I see you got a 300 dollar grille. New reproductions cost between 600-700. Sounds like you wanted 600-700 dollar quality for 300.

Some people don't ask enough questions or closely scrutinize the pictures before buying.....then are all pissed off when the part looks different than they thought.
Does this same thing happen in regards to Internet dating?
I always looked close at the pictures and read the profile. I was mislead a couple of times by women posting old pictures when they were thinner but it made for funny conversation later....

You hit the nail on the head.
So there is never a deal out there? Also i paid 300 plus shipping for the grille, I already have beautiful restored bezels that were 200 so if you combined the 2 then I paid the going rate.

There wouldn't be this problem if the idiots that don't know correct from incorrect or cobbled from not just stayed out of the hobby......they have nothing of value to offer and their cars are usually an embarrassing POS too.
