Having second thoughts on color

I'm painting my engine back to turquoise and I really do not care for it..I darkened up the color a bit and it still is just so so.Then I added green pearl to the clear and thought that's better.."under a flash it looks like a 70's bicycle seat" in person you can hardly tell...it's a pearl effect just on the edges...Plain or pearl,I can't decide
