Hello..... looking for a good upper black dash pad for a 68 Abody..
For now looking in Canada only due to shipping costs..
Thanks

Darren,
I work at a car dealership. You would be amazed at the repairs that can be made to split/torn vinyl! We have repaired tears, splits, burns etc and they are invisible when finished. The name of the company we use is Fibre Renew. They are a national chain. This type of repair would typically cost $150-200.00.

Thank you Andrew I will do a search

Damn!! IS RIGHT! Got a pic? I've seen some good repairs done. I hope the installer comes good for it?

Personally I’d look for another in good shape and have that one as back up. Then have that one repaired if u wanted it’s always better to have a back up.

Hey Darren,

That is definitely repairable but looking at it, the probable cause is the deteriorating foam underneath. The foam shrunk away from the vinyl and the 53 year old pad has become quite brittle. Any force on it at all will cause it to crack. I sent mine to Just Dashes via Canada Post . (Upper and Lower Dash pieces ) . Shipping included it cost approx. 1200.00 Canadian Tax in. I looked at the re-pops but they don't use a metal core , plastic I think and I just don't think they will stand up like the original. Still very expensive!! Used dash pads will just put you back in the same situation, still a 53 year old part.

I had all my pads done for a 69 charger work quality is great, but the curves were more rounded then original. I have been purchasing all originals i can for it. And prices are far greater then buying a good used one. IMO but maybe the curves for a barracuda top pad will be the same. Oh and i took 9 months to get them back.

I didn't notice much variance in the edges but if there was, it was not bad enough to stand out. Quality of the refurb was great and the grain was identical. Took me 4.5 months to get mine back but I did it over the winter months so I wasn't concerned. Again, most used pads I saw were ok but not worth paying the exorbitant asking prices. I could very well be back in the same situation a couple years down the road with a 53 year old part! Depends on what you want I guess..

Wow that looks great

Thanks! I decided that after spending so much money on everything else, I wanted the dash to look as good as possible. After all, you will stare at it more than any other part on the car when you drive it. To me it was worth every cent!!
