i think i read somewhere that if the O.D. is on and you if you shift into reverse that it can damage the unit . if that's the case it is not idiot proofed enough for me . they are very nice , good luck with the install.
That is correct;
If you bypass the lil computer, to split shift the unit, it will shift instantly any time the pressure reservoir is ready to go. But if you forget to disengage it in reverse; poof! she's busted.
This was a very expensive mistake for me as they will not sell the tools to take it apart myself.
With an automatic, you should be able to use the back-up switch to dump the pressure, thru a relay.
But I have a manual trans so I just wired a little green LED into the "on" circuit, and put the light on my tach. So anytime the unit is engaged I see the green light. Then I "trained" myself to always look at the tach before I let the clutch out in reverse. So far so good.
