To end this debate, if I was 16 again I would go to pull and save and grab a 5.9 and see what I could do with the 3 grand.
But when I was 16 3 grand was hard to come by, it was more like a grand.

I never said anyone was cheap. I said you can’t build a decent engine with 3k today. And I defined what decent is and gave some prices. If you don’t like that don’t read the thread.

If you live in a glass house don’t throw stones. Troll fits you perfectly. And if you think a block is junk because it is lined honed you are riding the short bus. And the short bus is full. Does that offend you? Stop trolling.

I'm in agreement that you cannot build an engine with all machine work for 3K. Some of them don't need everything.....and I'm not talking about trying to cut corners, either. Some of them just don't need it all. It's certainly your choice to do it.
 
Seems like an unfair comparison if you have one engine already, but not the other. However, if one was planning a build, if both of these engines choices are present, and a person was on a budget, the vote would be to build the 318. You'd have to add in the cost of the 340 to the build before adding in the cost of building the 340
