So I have been hearing people say the new formula of aircraft stripper is not good.
One thing is for sure, the price has gone up with the new formula but you can get it at oreileys and all the big box stores now.

I was reluctant to try it with people saying it's no good.

With few other options I did try it and I really think I like the new stuff better.

It does not apply like the old stuff, takes a bit longer to set in but when it does finally set in.... the paint gets really soft and a razor blade scrape takes the paint off. The paint gets so soft, a power washer can blast the paint clean off.

The stuff is very fume heavy so a fool uses this stuff without a respirator.

All in all, I'm giving a good review. I'm going to strip all day with this stuff.

The after pic shows it starting to really work but 35 minutes after application at 90 degrees. I ran out of daylight and time but I could have easily scrapped the all paint off with a razor blade or scraper.

Will look real nice when you get all done.

So great to be working on a rust free car.

finish off with a wire cup on a drill? I should use that stuff on the clearcoat cancer on top of my old Lexus. POR-15 stripper is 20% cheaper but is not CA legal. Im suprised this stuff is.

Well, when you realize the old stuff would allow you to just hose the paint off, you understand how crappy the new stuff is.

dang, digging right in. doing the whole car or just the part your working on for now?

1. Paint engine compartment
2. Drop in painted and overhauled 225 slant and A230 3 speed with floor shift (was originally a 170/ 3 on the tree but when i bought it there was no engine or trans.)
3. paint interior floors and inside of the firewall
4. swap to rally dash
5. Paint all jambs and fix one spot of rust on the trunk lip.
6. paint exterior
7. drive it until the rear end breaks (7.25) then it will get swapped with a Ford 8.8 ( at which time I will be forced to lose the 13" wheels on it now.)

I am going to rush this paint job because the car doesn't need that much body work, and winter is coming up fast so the quicker the turnaround the quicker I'm doing doughnuts in the snow with a Christmas tree on the top, pumping bass from the trunk.
Im going with 2018 Toyota white (even as much as I hate Toyota) because it seems to be the brightest single stage white I can find with a red stripe. Shouldn't take long to build a car to resemble a Frigidaire on wheels

so by end of september .........and by the way, if you get all that done by then, you're really going to make the rest of us around here look bad:lol:

Princess, if you don't like the Toyota white, try looking at PW 7 pure white. That is the color on the wife's 2016 300 S.

Properly applied, single stage white can be color sanded and polished to an amazing glass like shine. Since there is no clear coat for UV protection, keep it well waxed at all times. Can't wait to see it all done.

Well, I really think the stuff softens the paint just as good if not better but even if it were total crap, we don't really have a choice anymore unless you find a gallon of the old stuff that someone stashed away but time isn't going to be kind to it.

After reading a thread by @Jim Kueneman I realized how much time I wasted goofing around.

I can only hope to become as productive as he. He is on his third resto and my daily driver dart still has crappy paint.....WTH

I agree and yes because it has no metallic.
I had a guy that back in the 80' and 90s did several or so cars for me. He could lay down single stage to look like clear. He said, spray 0n a cool moist day, use extremely slow reducer, and of course his air and technique were killers to.
I hate cars with peeling clear. I rather sand and buff 20 year old single stage back from death.

There's always media blasting. Until the gubmint decides to protect us from that.

Once you use a blaster to remove paint, you'll wonder why you wasted so much time with stripper.

I'm not stripping the exterior of the car in the areas that its decent, it's the original paint and white so you can't get simpler.

The only reason I'm stripping the engine compartment is because it's really corroded and shitty.

Done deal today. The paint guy who mixed this says it's brighter than the Toyota white. This is the base white with some blue in it.
