Silly question but... change timing after swtiching ECU?

It could mean it's leaning out because the old box wasn't firing strong enough and causing a richer mixture. Once corrected, it may be the new box is firing properly, burning all the fuel and you're going lean. You may need to re-tune the carburetor.
